Part of the problem is Vista, which sucks up a lot of your computer's processing power just to run itself. If you can turn off some of those features that would help. I forget where those are in Vista, but it's basically your 'Theme'.

Another issue is your browser's cache, where it copies content from sites so webpages load faster. You should clear that out on a very regular basis - mine is set up to dump it every time I close the browser. What are you using? Firefox, Chrome, etc?

mornin, oz. i use firefox. i try to run CC Cleaner every so often, that clears out all the temp files i think. but anything i play on youtube is a start and stop festival of frustration. gaah-smiley.gif

It's under Personalize when you right click on your desktop. Windows Aero was what I couldn't think of. It's a visual effect that sucks up your computers processing power like you wouldn't believe, for very little benefit. I don't remember if the animated windows are under Aero as well, but those also take up a ton of power.

Fear, you ok? This sounds rather worrying.

The polar vortex is coming out to play with us again. /sigh

Have they ever played without stuttering and stammering, or is this new behavior?

I have lots of ideas, but most of them involve either talking geek or remoting into your computer to do a little digging around...

i think it's always done it, but seems worse lately. btw, if i play mp3s, they are fine. no stutter :)

In firefox, go to options then privacy. Tell it to accept cookies, never from 3rd party sites & keep them until you close firefox. Under that it'll ask you to clear out the history when you close FF, check that & under settings, you want pretty much everything checked.

Under options>advanced>network there's the cache settings. You can turn the limit way down, which will also help.

Edit: None of these are a fix all & there could be a bigger problem, but these are easy & a good thing to check first.

Kelli.. cCleaner is one of my faves.. good program. Is it just youtube vids or all video's? To check that go to any network side (CBS..ABC.. NBC) and try to play a show on their site. Your flash player might need updating.. or the plugin for firefox might need updating.
to check the plugins.. tools.. addons.. plugins.. button to check for updates

this morning's vape selection now includes some from an old bottle of peanut butter cup mmmmmmmmmmmmm tasty

i have a question for the puter geeks. on my desktop, which has that horrid windows vista, almost any streaming video i play stutters and stammers. very annoying. i know it's not the internet connection, cause they play fine on my laptop. so any ideas? remember, talk vapid.........i don't speak geek. :p

I'm no computer geek but I'll give this a shot ....

The wires in your computer are very VERY skinny .... if the video you are trying to push through contain fat people or animals they may be having trouble squeezing through the wires.

Try running a video with all skinny people.

HEY .... I said I wasn't a computer geek .... I'm just trying to be helpful here

Good morning all!

Do not worry about the hand, it was only a 1/16" drill bit. You would be surprised at how easy it is to put something small and sharp through your hand, how little it hurts. Not that you should run out and try it, I have worked with machinery of all types my entire life and have 100% of all of my appendages. I may have drilled/nailed/stapled/screwed into them once or twice.

Once my wife stopped laughing at me it got all better
Kinda like:

Honey you ok? Yeah just a small puncture I am washing it out. Isn't your drill press better for that kind of stuff, you sure your ok? Yeah, it is, yeah I am. Good be nice to yourself, ahahahhahhahahhahahhahahaha.
AHAHAHAHHAHA
It's just one of those moments.

You should have just sanitized the drill bit, sprayed it down with some antiseptic & run it back through a couple of times. :D

Kelli,

Your hardware might be lagging behind in it's ability to keep up with the resource requirements of flash. You can disable hardware acceleration under flash setting. Also if you are using a browser that supports HTML5 you can bypass the need for flash and use the HTML5 version of Youtube, it is no where near as resource hungry. Find it here:

YouTube

You can also manually delete temp files CCleaner will often miss them. C:Windows\temp and the appropriate cache folder in the users folder on you system drive.
