Hi Sean,

So glad things are looking up for your mother; still sending best wishes...

If you're a super-sniffer/taster like me, the Butter Pecan needs AT LEAST 4 weeks (I needed 6, but that may have been a sense-memory problem), or you will have a stomach-churning experience (even though it SMELLED fabulous {at 2 wks}). Once it's good, it's GREAT.

Happy Saturday to you, yours and all the MBV Denizens!

Thanks for the advice and the well-wishes, MninLA, I appreciate it! All my "new stuff" gets a hot water bath, some airing out, and then goes into the steep box for at least 3-4 weeks, so I should be good on wait time.

i have a question for the puter geeks. on my desktop, which has that horrid windows vista, almost any streaming video i play stutters and stammers. very annoying. i know it's not the internet connection, cause they play fine on my laptop. so any ideas? remember, talk vapid.........i don't speak geek. :p

Oz has the right idea, Kelli - it's most likely to do with not having enough available memory for the video to buffer (download and play at the same time) correctly - which would be why everything else works fine. Try everything he suggested, and if that still doesn't work, I'm sure we can get it figured out for you, between Oz, Khala, myself, and the several other people here who speak both geek and Kelli. :)

Good morning all!

Do not worry about the hand, it was only a 1/16" drill bit. You would be surprised at how easy it is to put something small and sharp through your hand, how little it hurts. Not that you should run out and try it, I have worked with machinery of all types my entire life and have 100% of all of my appendages. I may have drilled/nailed/stapled/screwed into them once or twice.

Once my wife stopped laughing at me it got all better
Kinda like:

Honey you ok? Yeah just a small puncture I am washing it out. Isn't your drill press better for that kind of stuff, you sure your ok? Yeah, it is, yeah I am. Good be nice to yourself, ahahahhahhahahhahahhahahaha.
AHAHAHAHHAHA
It's just one of those moments.
I'm actually surprised by just how easy it is to run a screw into ones finger. Almost like those things are designed to chew their way into things like wood, metal, flesh, you get the idea.

Not a geek, but it's probably due to the generic graphics card in your desktop. Most of them in the average laptop don't handle video very well.
Vista is not some of Bill Gates best work, but it may not be worth it to upgrade to Windows 7 to you. My issues are like yours, and I usually disable Adobe Flash from the task manager and let shockwave player handle videos. I'm running Windows 7, but still have spastic video issues because of Adobe Flash and a less than stellar graphics card.

I never install macromedia. I hate webpages that push flash video ads that play even when I hit "x" or esc.
Does Shockwave Player play standalone videos but refuse video advertising if I set it to?

Mornin'

Try this: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

If it has always done it then it might be the GPU, hard drive or CPU is not enough to handle the task. What is the model of the computer?

Older, slower hard drives have a tough time pushing HD video.

Knock-on-wood...

Despite almost 30 years in the machining trade and my best attempts, I still have all my appendages :?: though there's been plenty of trips for stitches over the years...

I figured it was a good place to start & an easy one to explain to someone who doesn't have a geek-speak translator. We take it for granted when we start talking about hardware or different concepts that we find basic, not remembering that not everyone can follow that.

Basic procedure: Start with the cache, work up to the explosives.

What he said.

My brain is too full of mucus to be much use at the moment.

I have drilled hands and fingers a few times, as well as drilling into my leg once. I have deck screwed my hand once. I have put numerous framing, finishing, pin and staples into my fingers, hands and even the leg again. Countless razor knife oopsies. :)

I have yet to get crossways with a saw, router, planer, joiner, mill or lathe. I have also yet to get crossways with any cranes, heavy equipment, lifts, chillers etc.

It is the little tools I get complacent with :p

Afternoon all, enjoying a coffee break before I'm back at it.
Jim Cantore from The Weather Channel Robo-called me.
Apparently I should be upset that TWC and Direct TV cannot
reach a contract agreement.
We don't even have Direct TV
Robo calls are illegal in this state
How in the heck did they get this number
and why the heck should I care.

Okay back to it.

Yeah my pb is good but I ONLY use it to mix with GC. I have some boom choco latte I may try mixing it with in a couple weeks when it has some age on it.

I have 1 cat who will start out on my lap & slowly keep creeping up so I won't notice. If I don't move her, she'd be sleeping on my face. I'm not sure if that's a sign of affection, or if she's secretly trying to kill me. The other one sleeps in really random spots. Sometimes on the floor at the foot of the bed, sometimes on my legs... if he makes it to the pillow he usually wakes me up with an aggressive midnight grooming. :)

That is funny!!! MeepBoop, within 5 minutes of me going to bed will charge in the room and snuggle up next to me. He usually tries to knock my tablet out of my hand. (I like to read when I lay down)
Sometimes he will move and lay on top of my pillow. I got a little worried about that the morning I woke up to him chewing on my hair.
He actually chewed a small chunk off. About a 1/4 inch section!

The jointer scares the piss out of me whenever I even think about turning it on. I consider that a very healthy approach. It has 1000% of my attention before that switch gets turned on until after I turn it off.
