I'm looking for suggestions on good MTL tanks that are not too airy and not too tight. If it gives a cool vape, that would be a plus.

I've been vaping for approx. 8 years and cartomizers were the most comfortable for me. I've since tried to branch out, especially when cartomizers started to disappear, but none of the older tanks I've tried has been able to hold my attention.

A lot of the tanks have been fine on first use, but then I run into problems days/weeks later and go back to cartos. I have been dealing with leaking, spitback (if the mouth piece is large), burning/juice tastes different.

I now have only about 50 cartos left, and have no clue where to buy a bulk amount for a good price right now. So I want to start the hunt again and hope to finally find tanks I can use before its too late.

TIA

I had a similar issue with taste when i switched from cartos to RTAs. My all-day vape (Hangsen RY2) was perfect in a carto-tank. When i first tried it in a Kayfun i thought i'd got a bad batch, the taste was so different.
The reality was that i'd gotten used to the muted flavour of cartos. I perservered though and now use it in a doggystle RTA. Occasionally i use a Zlide tank and am very impressed with the 0.8ohm Z-coils. They seem to last a really long time :)

No worries @Bworms1980.

But for a first rebuildable I would probably recommend an RDTA (Rebuildable Dripping Tank Atomiser), as they're more like an RDA (Rebuildable Dripping Atomiser) to work with due to being a chimera of the two. So they're much easier to work with than an RTA.

Something like Cuthlhu Mods Mulan MTL RDTA may interest you in that category.

Thank you. Any info is helpful. As I said, I've been trying to learn how rebuildables work but I'm not a technical person, plus I suck at working with numbers and still don't understand how ohms works. I tried and failed a few times about 3 years ago and have just been reading up/watching videos since, haven't tried again yet.

No worries @Bworms1980, I'd definitely say that an RDTA would be better fit for you.

And if you need any help, just ask. We'll try our best to help.

And coil or coils have to be made according to the Atomiser used and your own preference, but it's just plain old round wire that you'll need to use for MTL. And that can be bought from Temco and Zivipf.de for a reasonable cost.

As for wicking, Rayon is great for wicking. Due to the fact that it doesn't fall apart the same way as Cotton does when you work it.

It might help to know that resistance (ohms), while all-important for mechanical mods, is much less significant for regulated mods. For MTL, you'll probably want to aim for something between 0.5 ohms and 1.5 ohms. If you're worried about ohm's law and V = IR, you can stop trying to figure it out because you don't need to make those calculations unless you're using a mech.

Do you have an RTA/RDA/RDTA? If so, let us know which one and someone will recommend a coil that'll work for it.

Zenith or zlide using the 1.6 replaceable heads.

Get something easy & uncomplicated to use that provides a great vape first, then decide if you want to fiddle around with an RBA.
This way you’ll have something to vape while you experiment & learn with the RBA.

99% of the more modern delivery devices ( compared to carto’s) have adjustable airflow so the user can select their preferred draw / inhale resistance.

As someone who still uses old clearomizers (not cartomizers anymore) to vape low wattage about half the time, I can highly recommend an EVOD clearomizer (not EVOD 2 or EVOD GLASS) with the Kanger SOCC (not SSOCC) coil heads for someone who wants to get off of cartomizers. They won't be as tight a draw as a cartomizer, but then nothing today really is. But they certainly are an MTL device.

The only leaking you'll get is a little at the 510, which is also normal for cartomizers.

However, realize that these are plastic and metal clearomizers so if you vape tank cracking juices, this will not be a good option.

Both the EVOD clearomizers and the SOCC coils are widely available & still being produced as they are still popular. And the SOCC coils can frequently be found for $7 or less per 5-pack.

If you would like, I can send you an brand new EVOD and SOCC coil head if you're willing to pay $4 for shipping. The tank will come with the older style coil at a higher resistance but I don't recommend them (but you may like it anyhow and those are still widely available, too)

I rebuild a lot of my tanks, but also like any tank that takes the Aspire BVC coils

These were the ones that finally got me to move from cartos, and I still always have 1-3 in rotation. To this day they're still the only thing I'll use in my Billet Boxes.

For me, the BVCs (not the Nautilus versions) are the closest thing to cartos, along with the old Kayfun V2L+ (or whatever) atties.
