MTL tank ?

The Kanger Subtank/Toptank Mini's would be a good trainer tank for the rba and still have a good option of the 1.5 ohm MTL coil (great coil BTW). It was THAT RBA that led me to get a kayfun V4, a Hurricane, and a KF V3 Mini clone.

Which of them is your favorite?

KF V3 #1, Augvape Merlin #2 (extremely versatile), KF V4, and Hurricane. Also in a way they are all respectively equal for me.

Another cheaper tank I really like is Ego One Mega V2 with CLR coils. You can just replace the coil and they are rebuildable too. They have adjustable air flow. I also like the Kayfun Lite Plus V2, the old stand by for MTL

get the toptank mini set(mod and toptank) and a pro tank 4 for the tank.. both come with RBA's, the pro tank makes the transition better for both DtL and MtL and the RBA for the protank has more to play with. you can build for both and both RBAs are fairly easy if smallish. my hubby is MtL and I am DtL and between the 5 toptanks and the 2 pro tanks we make it work. the pre-made coils for one work with the other as well, so interchangeable.
