I haven't tried this, but after reading through the awesome threads with nail polish and stickers, it occurred to me that you might be able to use automotive paint. A long time ago I saw a couple of vehicles that had paint that changed color depending on the lighting, so I thought I'd check a search engine for what's out there. There's stuff! :D

For something affordable, there's Dupli-Color Mirage from Auto Barn which goes for twenty bucks a can.

Big spenders might want to try Prizmacoat from Alsa Corp which starts at eighty dollars for 4 ounces.

And for those for whom money is no object, there's Xposures ® from Alsa Corp which goes for three hundred dollars 8-o for 2 ounces, and would turn your battery into a mood battery that changes color in reaction to temperature change.

Happy modding, and I look forward to seeing photos if any of you try any of these. :)

Sorry I couldn't provide links, but my post count is too low yet.

I won't be able to try it any time soon since right now any money I have to spare has to go into buying supplies (in the event that New York actually succeeds in banning e-cigs :(), but I'm definitely planning on trying the cheapest one, and may be sorely tempted to try the semi-expensive one. I've always had a weakness for anything that sparkles and has lots of color. :)

BASF made a color changing paint that changed with both tempature and light. It was used exclusively for the Mustang Cobra and it was worth somewhere around 1200/gallon and that was...hmmm...15 years ago or so??

See if you can find some of THAT stuff laying around somewhere if you want, I can't imagine it's THAT expensive anymore..

lol

You've just reminded me.

14 years ago I wanted to paint my modified Mustang that color and could not afford the outlay just for a car.

Now I can, need to revisit that as I still have the car.

:D

I do as well. Shiny things get my attention right quick. I'm tempted to try (the med. priced) as well. I'm doing the research on making a flashlight (or pipe) mod and a little pretty paint would do the trick for an awesome finish

I like the flashlight idea! Ever since I started reading the mod threads I've been looking around my home with different eyes to see what would be suited for modding. I've always liked the idea of giving items we already own a second life, and modding is a perfect way of doing that.

I haven't yet created a mod, but I've already recommissioned a small jewelry box as my new e-cig stuff holder. It's perfect since it has a nice soft lining, separated compartments large enough to hold batteries, atomizers, and even the charger, and the tray on top for rings or earrings nicely grips cartridges and keeps them upright. And, of course, it's pretty, which is of utmost importance. :D

I'm also starting to horde empty bouillon cube jars as the perfect thing to soak cartridges in.

Would Spaz Stix work? It's color-changing paint for RC cars - comes in a smaller bottle for a smaller price tag. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to paint though. They have a glow in the dark one too!

I've seen that Mirage stuff at Walmart too.

There's also color-changing 'mood' nail polish out there too. I think Sally Hansen makes one, but it's been years since I looked at nail polishes.

Ok seriously - I want glow in the dark paint on my Explorer LOL That's hilarious! Wonder if my hubby would go for it....probably not :(

Oh! Of course she did - I am such a duh. I think my new-found obsession with e-cigs is getting the better of me.

Haha, yeah, I meant Dora, my Ford Explorer :) I tried to convince hubby to get me the color-change paint and some plastic walmart spinners back when I had a little Escort station wagon...and he wouldnt go for it. I don't think he gets my sense of humor sometimes.....

Sally Beauty Supply and ebay are where I got most of my funky nail polishes. I bet the tiny nail art paint brushes would work great for decorating PVs.

Maybe you need to accidentally  get some scratches in it so it needs some paint... :D

Oh yeah, definitely! There are a ton of good ideas in the Cosmetic Mods section using nail art of one kind or another. I shall be pillaging Sally's Beauty Supply.

someone pointed me to this site the other day for hydrographic, water transfer printing...and that'd make for some killer looking parts... heres the site: Water Transfer Printing / HydroGraphics / Camo Dipping

look at the gallery for abstracts, or the rifles....they can do ghost flames, snakeskins, all sorts of wood grains, carbon fiber, camo....

lol since seeing the site I've been looking around the house looking for stuff I can send to be dipped....and thinking about sending my mod to them if I can part with it for long enough

Very pretty! I especially like the flames one.

LOL - it's a disease! But hey, this is actually good for us. In decorating our e-cigs, we open up to the idea of decorating all sorts of things. A new craft!

Heh, they don't seem to have e-cigs or mods in their list of categories, so you'd need to explain to them what it is you want to have dipped. Next thing you know, those guys will switch to vaping as well. :D
