multi meter only has X1K resistance setting

Needle to move? Is this a analog multimeter? I recently replaced my old meter with a new digital one from feebay. I wanted one that also measured inductive amperage. I got mine for about 60.00 its a UEI and even has a diode and capacitor mode. You don't need a fluke save your money. I'm a commercial electrician and don't need or use a fluke.

yes its a analog, so the question is if it only has a 1k setting is this worthless for measuring the resistance of a atty?

yeah pretty much worthless, the average ohms for a atomizer is 2.4 ohms. So on a 1000 ohm scale it is not going to move the needle much. Might want to check out Harbor Freight for free multi meter coupons they have that deal going on quite a bit. The meters are not great but for free it is not a bad.
