well this is odd. I got some new aromamizer plus decks and their layout is different. Anyone know why this might be?

I’ve also put the decks alone in multiple devices and coils that SHOULD come out as 0.45 (24g kanthal, 8 wraps @3.5mm) are reading at 1.68. It’s really weird. I don’t know what’s going on. I’ve tries several different wires and everything is reading really high on several different mods. I’ve got a stand alone ohm meter so old I don’t trust the alkaline battery in it, but I strongly suspect it would read high too.

I think I know what’s the problem. You got the series deck.

Single coil doesn’t make any sense. You can build singles on the postless deck no problem. Does it intentionally take up extra space or something?
Yes it does, plus there’s a tiny piece of silicone where the airflow is. It works great! Better than doing a single coil on the postless deck for me.

When you put coils in series you add their resistance vs in parallel where you reduce the resistance by 1/2. So 2 coils that are 0.25ohms in series will be 0.5ohms and the same coils in parallel will be 0.125ohms. Either way you will still need to up the power due to the amount of wire mass.

Are there advantages to the series deck? This is the first I've heard of them.
Advantages is the wrong word. Just different applications then a normal deck.
Say you have a really low resistance fancy wire and your resistance on dual coils gets ridiculously low; you can build on a series deck to solve that problem. Mostly important on series Mech mods, as 8 Volts and very low resistance can get pretty ugly pretty fast. But can also be useful on regulated mods, as some (most?) wont fire below 0,1 and with some fancy SS wires it can happen to end up below that.
Other then that its does the same as 100W are always 100W; no matter if its 0,5 Ohm and 7,1 Volts or 0,125 Ohm and 3,5 Volts.

It’s a pretty narrow advantage and not worth the money IMHO. If they weren’t already in my hands I wouldn’t keep em. I’ve got a theory it could allow me to build a more resilient radiator coil and get supersubohm exotic coil performance out of a single wrap coil. I can do it now but the coils are huge and use fine wire which makes them a pain to install and fix hot spots on. Also they’re effectively disposable because rewicking a truly gunked up coil is arguably more difficult than simply replacing one. It’s a die roll.
