Hey there! You found the game:thumbs:; but, nope, you've got to play a song including any word from the last song posted. Here's a pretty pathetic appeal I added to the "join our group" sticky:
Hi, all! (That is, like, the 2 of you who will actually read this). I'm not here to promote a group, but, rather a mere thread in the Lounge. My name is Becky, and I am a music addict. There, I've said it. There's a wonderful little music game going on in said lounge, with the very creative title of "the music game". It's very simple. You just use one of the words in the last posted song, and play another song including that word. Before you do, though, go up to the "search thread" bar to make sure your song has not already been played. If it's new, write the song's title first, then it's band/artist. Since we'd all love to actually hear the song, use these instructions - How-to: Add images / videos to post the youtube or vimeo video of your song. Isn't it a blast to listen to tunes while you vape your favorite juices? Don't they go together like PB&J? Well, why aren't you playing, already?!? Music nuts of the world, unite and take over!!
Wow, why do I rat myself out as such a silly girl?
So the song in play is still "Sweet Black Angel" - The Rolling Stones:headbang:.

While it's been great to see so much more participation in the thread lately, it's also been kind of a mixed blessing. I'm not the official thread-cop or anything, (there actually isn't one), but there has just been way too much of this going on:

Gouge Away - Pixies
Already been posted.

"What Would The Community Think?" - Cat Power
Already been posted.

"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" - Pink Floyd
Already been posted.

"Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground" - Willie Nelson (of course)
Already been posted.

And those are just from the most recent 6 or 7 pages. The Music Game thread has been running for about 2½ years and, unfortunately, that means that tons and tons of songs have already been used.

The "Search Thread" tool at the top of the page is your friend. I almost always search by artist first, or I may search for a unique word in the title of a potential song I want to use.

For example: Say I wanted to post "On the Run" by Pink Floyd. First, I'd search for the word Floyd, and that would bring up every Pink Floyd song that's been used in the thread, (along with whatever few other uses of "Floyd" the thread may contain). Then I'd just sift through the results page(s) for the title I'm looking for.

Also, I make liberal use of quotation marks in my searches. Searching for "On the Run" is going to return much more useful results than if you were to search the terms without the quotes. Without the quotes, you're going to get all manner of random posts that use "run" or "running" or "run on" or whatever. With the quotes, although there may still be some spurious entries in your results, they will definitely include the specific phrase, "On the Run."

Of course, the major drawback to adhering to the "no-reposts" rule is that the searching takes some time. And that, of course, means that you can't often make knee-jerk replies. There's no denying that this takes some of the fun out of playing the game, but the game has rules, and effectively searching for songs before you make your post is pretty much a necessity.

I'm not looking to make anybody quit playing, but I really felt that this needed to be brought to folks' attention.

"Carry The Zero" - Built To Spill

I want to thank caffeinated for his clarification (and his super tunes). But I also want to reiterate that the search bar is sometimes wonky; and there will continue to be a few duplicates; and that should not discourage anyone from enjoying the game. But the tips above are great. Also, do notice that you can use just part of a word from the last posted song (as I did to get a little Built To Spill in here):toast:.
