Choosing an entire album would be impossible as there are very few out there that are full of songs that I'd want to listen to on a daily basis. Therefore, the "No Best of" caveat is null and void.

However, if I would have to pick 10 they would be:

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
Synergy - Electronic Realizations for Rock Orchestra
Tommy Bolin - Private Eyes
J.J. Cale - Troubadour
Bekki Williams - Innersense
Maynard Ferguson - Chameleon
Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water & Other Hits
Kansas - The Best of Kansas
TRON: Legacy Soundtrack by Daft Punk
Prism - Prism

Only bands' first studio album Top 10 in no particular order
I'm going with Deep Purple with Ian Gillan as singer (DP Mk II) as DP's first album

Aerosmith
Allman Bros
Black Sabbath
Led Zeppelin
Lynyrd Skynyrd (Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd)
Iron Maiden or ACDC ~ High Voltage (International not Aussie) I can't decide ACDC or IM so both
Tragically Hip ~ Up To Here
Hendrix ~ Experienced
Deep Purple ~ In Rock
Metallica ~ Kill Em All
Chicago Transit Authority - OK, so that makes it 12
EDIT to add - Alice Cooper ~ Pretties For You (I need to stop now)

Top 10 "Supergroups" first albums

Cream ~ Fresh Cream
Blind Faith
Derek & The Dominoes ~ Layla & Other Love Songs
Band Of Gypsys
Jesus Christ Superstar
Captain Beyond
Bad Company ~ BadCo
Emerson Lake & Palmer
CSNY ~ Déjà Vu
The London Howlin' Wolf Sessions (Chester Burnett, Clapton, Winwood, Ian Stewart, Wyman, Watts)
Muddy Waters ~ Fathers & Sons (Morganfield, Spann, Buddy Miles, Bloomfield, Butterfield, Duck Dunn)

Um, that's 11, I'm not good at Top 10 lists

Never heard Alice Cooper's first album? It's different from their later stuff.

I think if the desert island had a classic rock station within reception distance, most of you would be okay...

Trying to muster up ten that I would be very likely NOT to burn out on:

Devin Townsend - Ocean Machine
Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet /// nil recurring
OSI - Blood
No Bird Sing - Definition Sickness
Strapping Young Lad - City
Progmha-C - Bar-Do Travel
Karnivool - Sound Awake
Leprous - Bilateral
Tribe After Tribe - Enchanted Entrance
Opeth - Deliverance and Damnation

Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein
Nice.

Hate DJs Hate commercials I never listen to the radio...

...but I had XM/Sirius for a while and used these the most

Ozzy's Boneyard, Liquid Metal, Octane, Hair Metal, Lithium, Deep Tracks, Classic Rewind, Classic Vinyl, Outlaw Country, Symphony Hall, Real Jazz, 70's on 7

I like a little bit of almost everything but yeah, If I had to limit what I could have to 10 albums I revert to classic Heavy Metal & Rock

I lived in Phoenix in '85

Dave Pratt & The Sex Machine Band and KUPD
salt River fountain
Freaking hot there for Aerosmith/Scorpions concert at Firebird Lake
Fun & crazy place in the heat

EDIT - I said I hate DJs in my previous post.
Dave Pratt was about the only one I could ever stand.
He was a crazy bastid. He ran through downtown Phoenix in his red skivvies to promote his show :thumb:

Man, I remember my uncle was big into that guy when I first moved here. I never listened to KUPD back then, KZRX went independent from the Z-Rock format at that time, and I could be listening to Morbid Angel commuting on I-60 coming home from school. They basically operated like a college station. They were the best, but unfortunately only lasted a few years before the alternative station bought them out (*cringe... '90s alternative...). Pratt got a bad name out here and the current guard slag on him pretty hard when it comes up. He sold out to a pop country station, and dumbed down & took of a lot of the edge from his humor, and apparently wasn't a guy who was easy to get along with in the radio community.

KUPD today is mainly* contemporary buttrock and "This was popular in the '90s!" with the occasional good song thrown in if popular enough over the last few decades... but they do have one of the (if not the) best morning show... and I say that feeling pretty much the same as you on radio DJs. Music is hit-or-miss, but John Holmberg & Co. are some of the funniest stuff out there. Super not P.C., pretty over-analytical and witty, just good riffing all round. There have been times that I'm dying laughing to some of the stuff and think, "How in the world is Stern so popular being as unfunny as he is?" File under Seinfeld, I suppose.

*Good metal, punk, and local shows however at the weird hours they're usually on

Today's $22 haul from the AudioKarma Fall Frankenfest in my hometown

I forgot about the near mint condition Jethro Tull Aqualung that someone gave me for free :)

That Killers & Floyd ~ Obscured By Clouds fill empty spots in my collection.
The Who & Blodwyn Pig are upgrades and Tull is a near mint player.

The Floyd has some of their best songs but is a bit weak in spots.
If it was all as good as it's best it would have been a Top 10

"The Gold It's In The..."

Come on, my friends,
Let's make for the hills.
They say there's gold but I'm looking for thrills.
You can get your hands on whatever we find,
Because I'm only coming along for the ride.
Well, you go your way,
I'll go mine.
I don't care if we get there on time.
Everybody's searching for something, they say.
I'll get my kicks on the way.
Over mountains, across seas,
Who knows what will be waiting for me?
I could sail forever to strange sounding names.
Faces of people and places don't change.
All I have to do is just close my eyes
To see the seagulls wheeling on those far distant skies.
All I want to tell you,
All I want to say is count me in on the journey.
Don't expect me to stay.
