Hey Peeps!

Ive seen alot of avatars in here featuring some of you playing various instruments and sound effect generators(ie. dogs, cats, harleys, tounge piercings..).

Since I dont visit myspace, and my attempt to get PC gamers in clan-past to do something other than slap a keyboard failed, I though Id throw a post up here. Not a new concept, but I'd like to exchange music. Ive got alot of web space idle, and its so easy to do now days I can have something recorded and up on the net in less than 10min, and good quality sound.

The overall goal?
To get the orchestrators in a room with a case and a bottle of jack and jam out a good tune. But also a place to do whatever. All you need is a instrument, a mic, and a input on your soundcard. If you want to go studio quality I know the hardware/software.

Anyway, I thought Id throw it out there.
It can be a place where you can just throw something up there so others can play off it, a place for help, or we could end up in a story co-op Half Life 2.

Lemme know.
The current addy is www.ourtime.us
Site is pretty much down. Have PHPNuke Plat, 10gigs space, 2 SQL, and a '89 Les Paul. :D
(now if it wasnt for that talent thing... )

Lemme know what you think..

Dial up can take a long time, but still not a problem..

Can always send a cd/dvd to me and I can upload it, or have a friend upload it with a faster connection.

I have a file I can send to you as an example.
The song is One in a Million, by GnR. (If you call me racist, Ill call you soulless.) Its a quick and dirty. So dont expect much. PM me for the link.

I play harder blues rock and have a affinity for 80's style ballads with nice melody. Other than that, the only two taboo's are Nirvana and RUSH, lol.

that would be awesome actually. i have this weird problem where i can come up with the idea for a song, get it about half way done, and then i get absolutely stuck and can't finish it. so i usually have to have someone to bounce ideas off of so that i can get past that hump.
unfortunately i don't have a lot of people around here like that anymore.

as long as you can fit everything together it doesn't matter what you play... I've seen some weird stuff that sounds good together, you never know until you try.... I'd be up for a web collab... I've kind of always wanted to start an over the internet band... so this seems like a cool idea.

Interesting idea, THeGAMe.

Perhaps something back-and-forth, like photoshop tennis? (one person posts a bassline, second posts baseline and drums, first person layers guitar on top, back and forth until a song emerges). I always wanted to try something like that out and see what happened.

Anyway, count me in. I've got about 12 years experience with guitar / bass, have been recording a lot with keyboards over the past 6 months, comfortable with Logic and Reaper (Reaper's my main DAW). I also have a dedicated colo server with effectively unlimited bandwidth (a perk for working at a hosting company), if space is needed for uploading / downloading tracks.

Cheers,

idle

that's awesome on the bandwidth :)
and i've been playing guitar for about 30 years or so, so i can probably contribute with at least /something/ to the mix.
i have a pod xt live that i pipe into logic, so adding something to the mix wouldn't be overly difficult.

Lol!

Thanks for the interest guys!

Ive got ftp server set up. Was sick the last few days so wasnt able to get my gear set up to the PC. Im tracking down all of my cables now(I moved a lil while ago) PM me for access to mixing,.

Suz already has a copy of the song. When she uploads it, Ill screen it, and then xfer it to a place where you guys can down load it.

One thing for certain, we'll need to add a text file with the original song, lyrics, tabs, dates and changes, as well as leave at least one copy of each original build as not to over write others work. We will also need some kind of structure of when and how to post an edit.
Turn based?

idlethreat..
Dont need the space or bandwith right now. However, Im currently using phpnuke platinum for my web space, and have fallen out of love taking care of it. I have taken it offline.
Need a good site system suggestion. Something decent, without the vbulletin price tag. I have plenty of space and two sql databases, just no more money to dump into it, lol.

Should have this thing up and running within a few weeks.
Should also probibly group work on only one or two things till we decide to keep it or drop it. Submissions for things to work on should probibly be limited at this stage.

Hope to hear back from you all.
This could be fun!

Thanks GAMe

the best place that i've seen where a group of people can work on a single track is indabamusic.com

my music background i've been playing drums from age 10, after high school I quit playing trying to get back into it, started playing guitar in may of 09' and bass guitar for a couple years, and keyboard for a few years.

and I use Logic

Nice Weather!

Thx!
