Hi all, first off id like to say ive been lurking these fourms for a week or so and loving the information thats out there. Im looking for some advice to get jumped right into vaping. The interest for me right now is to look for a full alternative to smoking. Ive tried the Blu brand for about a week and they just dont cut it, and have V2 on the way. Which im wondering if i should just go ahead and send back and get refunded.

I was a 3/4 pack a day smoker, sometimes more, though the blu did help me cut down to 4-5 a day. I just dont get the smoke and TH i want like you get on a regular cig. Im looking to invest in something that will give me that...with the battery power and something i can pack with me back and fourth to work and at home and maybe on the occasional 4-5 day camping trip. Ive also been reading alot on rebuilding/wicking coils which sounds interesting to me and im very sure i could pick up on quick. And something that wont cost 200 like the povari.

My question would be, whats a good all around starter kit that will give me all those aspects that i could start with. I hear alot of people usually suggest the Ego to start which ive heard alot of people wish they hadnt started with that. Any suggestions or links to any sites would be greatly apperciated!

Thanks!

An ego starter kit is an excellent place to start out vaping with. Another option would be an MVP advanced personal vaporizor (APV). You really can't expect a battery the size of a cigarette to perform like a real cigarette. You need a larger battery.

Good Starter Setup for a Beginning Vaper

The MVP2 is a "box mod" which houses a powerful rechargeable battery which can last up to 3 days on a charge. It can be used as a pass thru (use connected to a USB/wall adaptor) to save even more battery life. It has variable voltage to adjust your vapor production and built-in ohm reader.

Most people start out using clearomizers as their juice delivery attachments on top of the battery devices for their ease of use.

Proper Terminology: Is it a carto, a tank, or what?

Look into Protank and an ego twist. Easy peasy to set up and fill. Then I would suggest trying a higher mg ejuice, 18 mg or higher. Look up a shop near ur location and stop in, I would imagine they will have this. When I started vaping I didn't totally stop analogs. I cut back to only 1 or 2 cigs a day then just stopped. Lots of helpful info and ur at the right place.

Edit: lol I think Bad has a bat phone for noob posts looking for suggestions. Baditude has a great blog u should read.

If you can, send it back. You'll find the same thing with those V2's. I'm a failed user of those, but I still do use them occasionally for quick trips out in town or the occasional sampling.

An eGo VV/twist style setup is a great first kit and something you'd definitely be happy with. Some folks might recommend a mod (like the Vamo I saw above), but that also depends on your lifestyle. If you're looking to be more discrete or don't see yourself hauling a big honking battery around, an eGo setup is a little better on that front IMO. (Don't get me wrong, mods are good...but I find them better suited for home, myself.) I've found i really like the Kanger mini-ProTank heads myself, but also rotate the eVod heads as well quite a bit. Both are solid performers for me. I think you'd be much, much, much happier with something along these lines...and most of us are.

Good luck on your journey! It's a great decision you've made and I think you'll find things much improved by getting into decent gear. I've spent a lot more time researching things these days because of the "stupid" mistakes I've made in the past...glad you're on here seeking advice! Welcome to ECF!

I have looked alot at the MVP box mod...and seems like theres a ton of people that love this VV mod. And for the price its not bad. My only concern with that is the internal battery setup. Any idea how long one of these will last on average? 1+ years or more given proper maintenance and charging?

I don't have any links, sorry. I'm sure they're out there, so maybe someone has better info. There's nothing wrong with piece mealing your own kit together. You might save a little money with a kit, but depending on the kit, you may also be spending money on things you don't want or need. (Like a case, for example, which I rarely find myself using...or adequate for what I want to bring with.) A kit is basically two batteries, two heads, a charger and a case usually...sometimes people throw some additional stuff in, but it's rarely super valuable. I think finding a reputable supplier is a good first step, then look at their kits and compare them to buying what you need.

I have a MVP1 which I got in May 2013 and its still going strong. No one knows how long the non-replaceable battery will last as the product hasn't been on the market for a full year yet. Most batteries like this have a duty cycle of 300 - 500, which means they should last for that many charges before not holding a charge. Considering that the MVP only needs to be recharged every 2 - 3 days, it should last for over 2 years or more.

so i decided to go with the itaste mvp 2.0 with the iclear 30 tank. which i would like to get a couple more tanks and have seen some videos on rebuilding coils and wicks...which i didnt find much for the iclear 30 tank. but seen some easy kranger pro tank pro 2 mini rebuilds which seem very simple. would this be a good start to stock up on tanks that would also fit on other 510 batteries i decided to add on later? looking at low cost low maintenance for these but still give good vapor and flavor.
