At a funeral today and was telling a friend how my Ego battery must have had a melt down in my pocket (the inside around the pin or whatever you call it was all black around it and it wasn't working), when a lady said "good, Probably saved your life !" She asked why I was using it in the first place ? I told her I was using it in place of smoking and hadn't smoked in almost 3 months when she said, "you were more than likely better off smoking...and you better do some research, those things are dangerous." My nephew was using them to stop smoking and he passed out in the front yard". I just said "oh wow, did he have an allergic reaction or something ?" She said "NO, it was the stuff they put in those things". I'm not the kind of person to get into arguments like that with strangers, even more so when it's a lady that's my mother's age. She then went on to tell me how they're going to outlaw them because of......"all the dangerous chemicals they use". I just said "well I agree they don't know all there is about them, but they DO know what the crap in cigarettes do to you. She just lit up her cigarette (about 5 feet from a crowd of people) and repeated, "you better do your research !"

I've read so many posts about this but it still kinda threw me for a loop.
Do you guys just let this kind of thing go or argue it ?

I argue it I got into an argument with my uncle today about e cigs and how they are much safer than traditional cigarettes! He argued with me for what seemed like an hour but my son has allergies to cigarette smoke I don't see how he can smoke one of those things..well its not smoking its vaping first off...and off I went!

Unfortunately for me and the people around me, I am usually the one who will argue with someone the same age as my mother. It's very hard for me to sit back and let people say bad things about e-cigarettes when I have done my research and I do know otherwise! So many people are uneducated and that's why we need to speak up in situations like this. You could have maybe saved a smoker today. Maybe not argue with them....but at least point out what you do know. Maybe it'll make them do some research...

I've heard stories like yours and they seem to be getting more common lately with all the negative media about ecigs.

Personally I haven't experienced it. I'm not sure what I would say. If the person is a smoker and I'm feeling snarky that day, I might say something like "Well, we all have to go someday....I choose this way. Good luck with your way" and then I'll walk away.

I wouldn't get into a dispute if I was at a funeral. It's difficult to listen to that kind of uninformed bias sometimes I know.

Mostly, I don't argue but the other day someone at work told me ecigs are dangerous and they are gonna ban them. He said it was true because he saw it on 20 20. Of course he is a smoker. I told him I've done tons of reading and am satisfied they are way safer than the cigarettes he smokes and I smoked over 49 years and haven't smoked on over a year necause I vape. Watching one show on TV and everyone is an expert. People think they should pass an opinion because they heard something bad somewhere and have no idea what they are talking about.

I've only been pushed into the corner once where I couldn't just walk away. After half an hour of explaining describing and informing they were stuck on you are going to die from that (as they chain smoked) which I gently pointed out was going to kill them quicker. And was quickly told yet again I was going to die soon from it. I finally got fed up and to paraphrase the old saying told them "opinions are like ... everybody's got one, but I've got two. Mine and you. Just walked away through all the profanity degrading sayings they could think of. Sometimes you just can't get through to them. They become so narrow minded if they fell on an ice pick, they'd be blinded in both eyes.

Its the same people that though seat belts in cars were bad idea's and fought that. I have disputes with customers all the time at work that "clearly know more than me" even after explaining to them I have spent years and hours in classes from product manufacturers explaining physics and thermodynamics AND to those customers I'm still wrong lol

I even tried to sneak what was in the ejuice by saying, "Oh wow, he didn't ever have a reaction to any of those things before ?" She said "NO, he just started using it". That's when I said "Yeah, but it's the same thing used in preservatives and some medicine inhalers". Without missing a beat she answered....."It had to have been because of one of them dangerous chemicals they put in there". That's when I just gave the old...."mmmmm......okay"
