RDA Mutation X - where do you align your coils?

Basically I'm wondering what the title asks. I've been lining mine up with the middle row of holes. I figure that way it gets the middle blast directly and the top and bottom rows cover most of the top & bottom of the coil.

I've angled them to match the airflow, but I get too much spitting like that. Maybe it's my wicking.

I've had good results aligning the coils horizontal with the bottom air holes. Since the coil is lower that way you shouldn't get any spitting and the wicks will dip into the well with less distance. I line up the bottom of the coil just above the deck wall so I can see inside the well looking straight at the coil.

I align mine with the bottom row, horizontally. Although I've had impressive results running vertical coils as well. Single verticals, I line up in the center of the airflow....duals and quad verticals, I center them. Just experiment- taste is subjective and what works for you, might not work for someone else.

The spitting probably has more to do with your wicking or coil build. If your wicking is too loose, it will cause spitting. Also, some coils are a little more prone to spitting, like twisted coils. But if your wicking is right, it should minimize this. Spitting usually happens when there is space between the coil and wick where the juice boils and causes spitting. Your wicking should be tight enough to fill all spaces within the coil, thus minimizing the spitting.

Any other opinions here? I get "what works for you works" but that's not what I'm getting at here. I can make it work. Maybe you've made it work better and I wanna try your way.

You want air flowing over the top and bottom of your coil(s).

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the question, but aren't you talking about an area that has the difference of 2mm or so in any direction (left/right, up/down of center)??? Coil placement in any of my builds is the least of my concerns as long as they are in front of and centered in the AF. The coil build/type itself gets most of my attention.

I just built this coil this morning before leaving for work...
Single 24g/28g parallel 8 wraps on 3mm comes out to 0.4Ω. So far this has been one of the better coils I have put on the Mutation, lots of vapor production and I only run it at 45W on the IPV2s. I have tried dual twisted, a few Claptons, single twisted etc... They have been too hard on the juice and the single battery in the IPV2s.

Sorry I didn't have a clean build for posting. I use the single side of holes fully open and the coil is centered with the bottom holes.
