Frankly, I bought this because in was an inexpensive authentic (have clones too....) and it looked interesting. And now? I use it all the time. Huge post holes...adequate (lol) air flow....nice deck..cooling fins...it is definitely a pretty cool rda. This and my Zenith V2 and drilled out TOBH are my go to atties. I also kind of like the loose top cap..I like to drip right on the build and that's pretty easy to do on the X.

Could be, it all comes down to your build :)

yeah i prefer 24g as dual's and i use 22g for singles, but i keep the ohm's between 0.2-0.3ohms.
Measure out a piece of 22g about 55-60mm and do a stovetop the same way i have, i'll show a pic, i make mine on a pin vise which gives it a nice smooth curve once you get the hang of it, hold the end of the wire with pliers while you spin the pin vise or similar, i tried doing a stovetop how riptripper does with the wires touching but it just gets to hot to take a longish pull, he recommends letting the cotton break in and it will get better but i found just leaving a gap to be really good, and if you use ... cotton face pads they are great for this build, leave a gap between the coil and your posts slightly thinner than the thickness of your pad, cut a slit in it for the pad to slide eitherside of the wire and when youve slid it in get a piece of wire to push the cotton against the coil before juicing.
if you get sizzling after a pull then you probably havent got the right thickness of cotton between posts and coils and will need to fill it out more :)

I've got to try a stove top! That is a great looking build Slippy.

Ummh... do you have that thing give a *gurgling through water* sound effect when taking a hit?

I love mine!

That drip tip actually has a super restricted airflow it's not wide bore at all you get more airflow from a pro tank drip tip which I think is pretty silly it's more novelty than anything else IMO i love my mutationx this thing is really nice I get great flavor and clouds when I close this all the way off and the drip tip it came with is really wide bore which I think is great top caps a loose but it's not a big deal to me cause i like dropping directly onto my wick

I just googled, and inexpensive may have been an understatement - at $25, it looks pretty darn nice! There's a crappy B&M near me that's selling it online, I might have to take a trip there tomorrow and see if they're online only.

I know I could probably find this out elsewhere, but is possible to close off half the air if I just want a single coil? Not a deal breaker by any means, but I am curious.

The mutation X is designed for dual coils. You cannot run it in a single coil airflow configuration.

no, not unless you cut off one of the fin's that adjust airflow.

i like it with all holes open though, wether i run single or dual, its the way i roll on all my attys, 22mm & 30mm :)

I've been wanting to get a Mutation X so bad lately. I have the TOBH 2.5 and the Plume Veil and I love both of them but I want something with even more airflow. I don't really feel like drilling holes in my TOBH or Plume Veil because I think they're pretty awesome the way they are. But that Mutation just looks sick! It kinda looks like a TOBH just with 9 air holes instead of 3. I don't know if that's a true statement or not. And $30 for an authentic RDA is a great price compared to other high end RDA's. I believe I heard that the guy who produces these outsources to China.

Anyone know what size the screws are for this thing?

Mine are FT Clones so dont know if they are the same size but >> M2.5 x 4 ..... My PlumeVeil FT Clone is also this size but would probably be better with grub screws for the T-post as the screw heads look like they will overlap.

Has anyone found a "chuff style" topcap that retains the airflow fins? I have been hooked on the chuff caps on all my atties, and modified one to fit the mutation, but wide open, even with a .14 build on my dual parallel box, its too much airflow.

is this what you are asking for>> $2.53 2-in-1 Drip Tip + Top Cap for Tobh Atty V2 RDA Atomizers - stainless steel / 20mm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

$2.47 2-in-1 Drip Tip + Top Cap for Tobh Atty V2 RDA Atomizers - stainless steel / 20mm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
