I wonder, once the battery dies (end of life cycles, won't take a charge) on my MVP could I still use it as a PV hooked up to a wall wart? Since it can work that way now while charging, I'm hoping it would still work despite a battery that won't take a charge. As long as keeps the circuit closed it should, no?

Yes, when plugged in, it bypasses the battery, but you could also replace the battery. I'm waiting for a dna20 to mod mine with, and I'm going to change the battery for a safer option with higher power. Only challenge would be to find a box shaped battery that isn't poly-litho

The USB passthrough does NOT bypass the battery. You are still taking a hit off the battery. It simply charges why you are vaping.

The included battery is a LiPo "pouch" type battery. Looks to be 2 cells in parallel to be able to handle the higher amp draw.

Most LiPo's have a rating of about 300 FULL discharge cycles, which never occurs. A full discharge cycle for a LiPo is 3.0 volts, the MVP won't allow you to get below 3.3.

So this battery should easily last a year, even if you plug it in daily. By that time you can get away with buying another MVP. Just over 3 bucks a month for battery isn't bad....

Kind of ironic in that I have a few box shaped lipos as I fly RC aircraft. I guess the MVP has built in circuitry to avoid over charging, as lipos are kinda dangerous for the uninformed. I guess I might tinker with it once it's dead. But another post had a point, it is pretty cheap considering the lifespan of the unit. Vape on!
