That's a pretty bad idea if you still want to use carts on your atty, because the fibers are there for a reason. Wicking the liquid from the cart to the coil, to be precise. Soaking in hot water gets the fibers clean again.

That's my understanding also. Yanking the fibers works well if you're dripping, but not for the cart user.

Oooh! I was having the same problem with my week-old 510s. Very discouraging and hard to get any vapor or TH at all. (I was the one who clogged them with some bad juice I tried to make with Vanilla extract containing corn syrup. Not a good idea.) I only have two atomizers until I get paid and can order a couple more, so I was reading through some threads and came upon the Crest mouthwash cleaning method. Well, that discouraged me because I don't have crest and can't go get any right now, but what I did have was generic Listerine, so I tried it. After I stuck my atty in some warm 50-50 mouthwash and water mix, I read on that someone else tried this and just could not get the Listerine aftertaste out. Oops. Well, I said what the heck, it wasn't working right anyway, so I would just experiment and see what I could do. I let it soak for about 15 minutes.

I shook it a few times during the soak, took it out, blew through it and rinsed it thoroughly with hot tap water. I did not blow the water out but instead dipped it in regular rubbing alcohol for about 20 seconds, wiped it off and blew through it a few times, repeated alcohol again and then dried it with a hair dryer to completely get the alcohol out. I then soaked it in PGA for about 2 or 3 minutes, blew through it and then used it. WOW! Not only does it work better than brand-new, there's no aftertaste at all!

BUT!! be careful. The mouthwash completely disintegrated the black paint on the atomizer, so if you want to keep your paint, don't do this. But they are better than nothing until I can get paid again and get some more that I will be more careful with. Normally, warm water baths and blowing it out worked great between flavors but it was my bad juice that gummed them up so badly. This probably isn't the best method for a routine cleansing but it sure did work wonders if you're in a pinch or if you have chrome atties and paint isn't a factor.

I should add that I did this after all else failed. I tried hot water, alcohol, PGA, vinegar, pressure-squirting hot water and alcohol with a baby nose sucker thingie through it and even some coffee maker cleaner that I have (that works wonders on coffee makers, BTW) and several combinations of the above.
