I have now been testing the white ceramic wicks for a while and can post some results. I remind all that this is only my opinion and all of us have different vaping styles. I for one do not do sub ohm. Have seen to many batteries destroy themselves in my RC hobby. So all my coil test are above 1.3 ohms. Having said that I will say that the lower ohm coils 1.4 to 1.7 gave me better results than my normal 1.8 to 2.4 ohms.
On the diameter of the wicks, after much testing I personally do not see any need to use the thicker wicks on my setups.
I have two RSSTs setup identical, one thick, one thin, and the thin out performs the thick at up to 15 watts. The thick wick has to get over 18 watts to compete, long lag and stays very hot.
In the gennies I have 2 AGAs, two RSSTs, two Cobras, and two DIDs set up with the white wicks. I am using .5mm kanthal ribbon and/or 30g kanthal. Best results IMO the ribbon, but the 30 g works satisfactory. For some reason the DIDs with the white ceramic wicks are giving me the most satisfaction. Best vapor, flavor, and TH.
The wicks I used are 7/64 and 11/64. On the AGAs, Cobras, and DIDs, I drilled them out to 3/32 and worked the holes with a dremel until the wicks fit snug. One RSST has the insert in and the other removed. My wicks fit loose in the RSSTs holes and is probably a reason they don't wick as well. All my other gennies out performed the RSSTs in my tests. Will try to get some wicks that will fit the RSSTs snug and test them again.
I believe the white ceramic wick is a winner.
Pros:
VERY Clean Taste. Probably the best wick out there for true flavor.
Easy set up and much stronger than other ceramics tested.
Long life of wick and coil.
Easy to dry burn and clean.
No coil to wick shorts.
Short break in time but necessary.
Cons:
Fragile for clumsy fingers.
Practice getting a tight wrap of coil on wick.
Get hot and continue vaping after power is off. Prominent with the thick.
Break in necessary, they do get much better after 6ml.
Unavailability.
