I'm trying one made of plastic to see how it will work now. I hope it works.

I have a few made from PTFE tubing and they work fine. PTFE is good up to 500 deg F. Higher than that, bad fumes. Plastic may melt.
Make sure the mouth piece hole is completely surrounded by the insert so you don't draw off the backside.

I might try that. I have a tube of some 2 part stuff that you knead it together to make hard. I wonder if that would work.

Plumbers putty? I did that too. Think it gave off flavor, Thin metal sheet cut and curved to size is my best option and not that permanent or PITA to remove is not wanted any more.
