poland, and the brassy lands of google
Lazrah, slow down buddy. Pics would help, but here are some general ideas. Don't have the wick tight in the hole and not dense either. A tube shaped wick or with a loose spiral roll inside lets the juice flow. Just oxidize the area by the coil, the rest just adds deposits and can make it taste strange. It also helps to have at least 5mm of wick above the coil, this acts as a reserve for juice. The coil itself should be low in the chammber and it sounds like you have the air inlet in the right area. If the hole is too big, you can cover with tape and try a smaller one to see what you like.

Hope this helps, you are very close. :)

Thanks asd like always. I took a pill (drank a beer) and I feel better! LOL I can feel it how close I am xD Thanks for the insight on the wick. I think it might just be the too big of hole and my coil is a little high. I will try it in the morning 3:45am here now. Oh one last question that might help me along, How big of a diameter wick have you found to be good on these? The one I have on there now is roughly 2.5mm diameter. This one being slightly larger than the previous wicks I tried. If I do in fact need a larger wick I will need to find an alternative to the enlarged ceramic cup I have now.

Thanks again asdaq.

Decided to use silver wire.ordering from twisted jewels and gonna try the argentium and the pure.was looking at the site and they also have 18g stainless steel wire.could be used for a solderless cheap line, what do you think?
For some reason the coil wires get loose easier on the ss wire and not on the silver. I do not know why but my and others experience.

hmm. I got my coil lowered now. Made the air hole to where there is an airflow I like, but it seems the wick isn't doing its job right. I have about a 1mm column of free space inside the wick, and the wick itself fits in the hole nicely with a little wiggle room. I don't have any visible hot spots on my coil, yet still get a burnt taste. If I drip a drop or two on the coil that first hit is really nice, but even turning the thing upside down doesn't seem to help. I have even tried rolling up a strand of silica wick inside the SS, No dice. Any ideas?

I think I missed something. Screws, I get. How do you attach the coil to the silver wire? Just wrap it around? Doesn't that weaken and break the wire over time?

Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Four or five wraps of the end wires of the coil tight around the silver posts. It is best to heat the coil wire red hot first to take the spring out of it. Wire wrap has been used as a connection in the telephone industry for decades. I have both screws and wire post and actually prefer the silver wire posts. Being able to bend them very close to the coil eliminates long runs and hot spots that cause popping. My coils last three times longer on the silver wire posts. This wick and coil is over three weeks old and still going strong. Every three days I put the PV under the faucet and clean the wick and coil with a toothbrush, I then do a dry burn, and refill. Haven't had a loose connection yet and if it did get loose just a little tightening with a needle nose fixes it.

Also,

you mentioned that you use epoxy at the bottom of your tubes/connector
how does it hold up in there with juice
you mentioned that you dont use nic-juice, but couldn't it corrode?

I just happened to have some potting epoxy that withstands higher temp and is slow to set. I have not had any problems with it even on units I made for family that use nic. It is used to protect electronic modules in hot, corrosive environments. I fill the bottom connecter with it and let it set overnight. It encapsulates the center pin and the soldered wires, no leaks, solid center pin, and wires can't pull free.

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

The potting epoxy I use is from this company but I got a pint it from a friend that makes electronic voltage regulators for diesel generators and he buys it in 55 gal drums so I am not positive it is exactly the same but it should work. The regulators he makes in his factory are pretty high end costing hundreds so I assumed it was pretty good. Mine is clear and high temp.

looks like promising stuff.
Kind of expensive though.
Tell your friend you need another free pint for a fellow builder haha.

I couldn't imagine how much a drum of that stuff must cost.
