The top plug holds everything. There is no adjusting after it sets. I did a few by spraying the SS sleeve with veg oil and pulled the sleeve off before the putty set and that way I have three for one sleeve but you get some air seepage around the sleeve.

When you say adjust, the post are above the threaded area so it is easy to wire up the coil.

I have been forming my top surface of the putty a little concave so any extra juice flows back to the wick.

Yea... The ProVari is a PITA to setup a genisis if there are shorts between the coil/wick, especially a V1. Set it to the lowest voltage and use the check resistance setting on the ProVari. adjust your coil or even re-oxidize and re-wrap your coil until you can get a coil >1.6Ω. Some increase to a 4/5 wrap to use with a ProVari also... Some more...

Should have seen me setting up my G-Tank-US on my ProVari yesterday! Wow. But I got it working at least.

OK so I set everything up again, about 3 times

Re oxidized three times, used tap water and VG, butane torch

My coils have been anywhere from 2.2 ohms to 3 ohms

What happens every time is it starts firing for a while, only the distal ends of the coil light up. Then eventually it bursts into flames LOL. And then either the coil breaks or the Provari says E1/hell no

I'm seriously starting to think my tap water must be incredibly clean. I'm also seriously considering dipping the wick in sugar and caramelizing the crap out of it lol

Scrolled back and saw that it could be the posts being too far away, the wick shorting things out, or things being too dry

I've been avoiding filling the thing because I wanted to confirm that all the coils would light up first

fraaak

EDIT: I coiled it up without any wick, and everything lit up like a christmas tree. Re oxidized, put the mesh back in, short...

Good news! I absolutely cannot oxidize SS mesh :(

You may be wrapping the coil too tight on the wick and when it heats it tightens on the wick and shorts, are you heating the coil wire before wrapping it? You should to take the spring out off it.

Greetings and hope all is well with everyone tonight...

I've been trying to read all these posts as I find this might be a good 1st project for me being new to modding...well even new to soldering, just did my first solder joint a couple days ago and trying to get the hang of this.

Anyhow, I tried searching this thread and continue to read thru this but figured it might be easier\quicker to just ask while I continue to read. Is there a specific post that shows where I can get the specific materials to use to attempt to make one of these? From what I've read so far, it seems that I would need:

  • GP CE2 XL Humongomizer Set-up for eGo 3.3ml (assuming these are the same as the F-1 cartos listed in first post?)
  • 2 - 18 gauge silver wires
  • PTFE tubes for those specific wires
  • Either plumber's putty or use the silicone cap provided witht he humongomizer for the top cap
  • Epoxy
From what I gather, it seems it is just a matter of soldering the two silver wires (one to positive post, the other to negative outside shell of connector), then feed those wires through the PTFE tubing and seal the ends of the tubing to prevent leaks, then create a cap these 2 wires would feed thru (wither putty or silicone cap) and then feed the wick thru the middle of the cap.

So onto my questions...

  1. Where do I or can I order those 18 gauge silver wires or where the most popular and reliable place...McMaster, Ebay, etc?
  2. What size PTFE inserts do I order or do they come in gauge sizes and where can I order them?
  3. What type of solder do I use, I figured lead free but didn't know if the silver type would be ok or if there was a preferred one?
  4. Is the Epoxy and Plumbers Putty food grade or safe around juice (I've seen some posts where some say their juice eats through these adhesives) and where can I get those?
  5. Do I need any drill bits or does there need to be an air hole drilled in the top cap?
  6. I know it will take practice but being that I am a total noob in terms of modding\soldering, etc. am I taking on too much of a big task with this?
Thanks for any and all help and if any or all those parts can be ordered from McMaster Carr, can you provide the part number since they have like a million parts as I haven't had much luck searching by part name. I will continue to read thru this thread to see if this info is already provided.

The humongonizer has a 1/4 turn snap om cap so you can't use it with a ego cone for the top. I prefer the ego w F1 that has the removable cart and threaded cap.

I then use a these for the guts.

I bought the teflon tubing on ebay, also 18 gauge or 2mm od

Thanks BJ, for that 1st pic the F1, where did you order it from or do you know who sells these??

Again, thanks for the help.

yes and yes :)

I kind of skirted over the PTFE tubing; I just used the heat shrink I had bought from home depot a while back. Is the material a big issue? I'll try and dig up the package or link to see what mine is actually made out of

You are better off with PTFE the will work with 18gauge wire...

Ed, I have a post in here somewhere were I list my stuff with links in my build. But I don't use the same thing as BJ43 for a shell or tank.

ETA: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...494-my-cheap-version-line-28.html#post5416111

I have a couple I built back when this thread started and they are still in service by friends of mine...

@ JollyRogers: Will other materials degrade more easily? I can't find the packing, but it seems it was either unlabeled or polyeon or something like that lol. Gotta run bbl!

Oh Pooo. I bought the wrong thing. Shoulda read more first. I bought the larger bottom coils from GotVapes thinking I was going to do this mod.

Anyone use this instead of the Humongomizer? I'm pretty sure I can still do it, just wanted to ask......Now that I messed up and all
