I've got a Cloupor Mini on order with fasttech pending backorder fulfillment. Thanks for the posts about the catastrophic failures. ... I'm seriously considering cancelling my order.

I've gone as far as sending a thorough query to Cloupor on this issue, specifically mentioning the "spontaneous combustion" problems, to see if they're actually taking steps to correct the issue.

I expect a generic reply but it doesn't hurt to ask...lol.

Near as I can tell, there's only two cases reported. Still not good, ideally none of them should go catastrophically bad, but it's not an epidemic either.

No such thing as None - Wishful thinking.
Mods fail
Kids toys fail
PC's Fail
Cars Fail
It is the nature of the beast in Manufacturing. Real world not our wishful thinking world.

Fact is even if 5 chips have failed(looks like 3 reported) That is well under 1% of the tens of thousands already shipped.

I would not get overly concerned unless a Real Pattern develops.

EDIT TO ADD: Maybe panic is a good thing. Might force a price drop/Fire sale:laugh:
Would not mind picking up a few more for $10 less than I paid per unit. (gear Best $29.99)

You all are NOT helping my Fire Sale Hopes!

On another note. Why would a China Company ship A package to the U.S. via Netherlands Post?
Maybe I should call Gear Best a One and Done Deal.:glare:
Personally, I was a none and done when they didn't honor the discount codes that were a mistake on their end.

Hmm I think I'm one of the first ones to get this unit, and no fires. Also regarding Pbusardo's complaint of a poor finish, mine's looking decent. Some hairline scratches in the finish, but having a silver unit probably masks it better than on a black one.

Still think the firing delay is annoying, but I've gotten used to it.

Question for those who had units that went up in flames, were you USB charging it on a 2.1A charger / USB port?

Looking forward to the iStick 50W!

Very few have had the melting issue out of tens of thousands sold so far
Claims are:
Not in use
Not on Charger
Damage looks to be mid-main board
Perhaps a Chip overload/short and ensuing melt down
Reports also have been SMOKE - not fire - There is a difference:)
