My credit card info was stolen today, from a vapor website.

I made 2 purchases today, one from Tasty Vapor and one from Viking Vapor. I've dealt with Tasty Vapor several times and have never had a problem so I'm pretty sure it didn't happen on that website, but who knows. I've only bought from Viking Vapor once before. I've contacted them both so that they can check into it. I don't know if there was a security breach in their website or what but within 5 hours of making my purchases I received a phone call from paypal. I know it was legit because they gave me all of my personal info so that I could verify who they were. They didn't ask me any questions other than "Did you make this purchase?", "Did you make that purchase?", "Are you still in possession of the card?" SO, this is a huge PITA and now I'm scared to buy anything online. I've been buying things for years and this is the 1st problem I've ever had. I feel so violated. I just thank the good Lord that I used my paypal debit card for these purchases because I doubt my bank would have caught this as quickly as paypal. They are now my new best friends. :) So, I've had to cut up my card and am in the process of getting another issued. I HATE THIS.
Anyway, I guess I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?
Thanks for reading my rant.

That sucks. Someone stole my debit card number once and then proceeded to buy $600 worth of liquor in Brooklyn. To this day I have no idea what site I used that got compromised. Heck, I don't know that it was a website, I use my debit card all of the time. Luckily for me, I belong to a credit union and they had me taken care of with a new card in about 15 minutes. The money took about 3 weeks to get back into my account, however. I hope everything turns out ok for you!

I had my bank card info stolen 2 weeks ago while I was purchasing my 2nd starter kit from Apollo E-Cigs. I was so ...... off when I found out. Luckily my bank caught the transactions pretty quickly and are reimbursing me for the charges that were made. Just a quick note. If you proceed to checkout from a website and the URL at the top of the screen doesnt begin with (HTTPS), then dont even think about using that website.

I understand your frustration, its happened to me more than once.

However.. I would contact the vendor(s) in question personally before throwing out allegations and bringing other vendors into the swarm, whether you've used them before or not.

Unless you got that card in the mail today, have not left the house, only used it on those 2 websites, and had high quality active virus protection on your computer you cannot just start tossing these guys in the fire.

Also, alot of identity theft that happens isn't acted on that day. More often than not unless some random guy off the street stole your info they tend to hold on to it to make them harder to track down. Your information could have been compromised a long time ago.

Im not trying to step on your toes, I completely understand your frustration.

Actually, someone posted a similar thread on here last week or a couple of weeks ago...they did not mention the seller, but said it was from purchasing eJuice. That night my card (coincidentally) was charged 4 times by PayPal! Only one charge made it through for $103 and the others were put on "hold". I called my bank and they blocked the card and sent me a new one. They refunded the charge, but what PITA....yep.

A good point was made on that thread....just cuz it happened when ordering from an internet seller does not mean it is that seller that had the "leak" it could be the information was intercepted via transmission before it even got to them. There is a way, with your bank to set up a "Safe Guard" that generates a one time number that is only used for that single purchase and can not be stolen and reused. I tried to figure it out how to do it with BofA but have not been able to yet.

No, thank you KL. This is the second thread in two weeks, and its becoming obvious to me which vendor has been hacked. Whether or not this is a beloved ecf vendor or not, we need to protect each other and our finances. I wont be ordering from this vendor until A. I know for sure it isn't them, or B. They make a public statement assuring us that they have taken new measures to ensure the site has been protected. No, I'm not going to name who I think it is either... But I think those of us that do a search can figure it out for ourselves. The same vendor has been hit and/or NAMED by individual people who have been hit, from what I've seen. If you are ordering regularly from one of the named websites, take what you will from this and be cautious.

That is why for all of my internet purchases I use preloaded Walmart and such cards. The most they can get is what I loaded on the card and I only load what I need for my purchases so it is their loss because there is no money for them to steal...
So far ive pretty much been doing the same thing, since im buying from so many different websites, I don't want these charges on my card, so i just use a visa gift cards etc... from wawa / 7-11
(pre loaded gift cards)
