New clearomizers often have a primer on the wick (properly called sizing on fibers) that can taste just nasty. Depending on the maker of the wick - or when its made etc, the primer can be quite heavy and hard to get rid of. If you find your new toys still have a bad taste - soak the heads in alcohol, or my fave - denture cleaner tablets, for a few hours. Rinse in hot water. That will get rid of all the icky primer taste.

If I have encountered the primer problem I also get rid of the juice that was in the tank with the head - it never tastes right to me if I try to save it. I just clean the heads and start with fresh new juice.

Denture cleaning tablets clean up the silicon caps too and get rid of the smell too.

I have no problem ditching bad juice. I'll try soaking the plastic parts in alcohol. If that does not help I'll go get denture tablets. It's the little silicon cap that smells so bad and could be from the primer-I did wash before using the first time. I don't remember the smell till after I used juice in it the first time.

I haven't tried the ce5. I bought several ce4's and did not like them. Into the junk drawer.
I bought the Mini Vivi Nova and haven't looked back. They work great.
I have seen a few people who like these Ego "Mop Head" clearomizer. They claim to wick better.

eGo Mop Head Clearomizer (Blue) - $5.49 : Heathers Heavenly Vapes, Top Quality Custom E-Liquids

You might also check out Heather's juices. She makes great stuff, and is located in Newnan, GA.

Thanks I have a ce4+ and a ce5 rebuildable. It was the rebuildable that tastes/smells bad and I know it is made of polypropylene.
I'm hoping the steeping will help. If not I'll convince Hubby to try vaping and let him try them. For some reason he smells things that I do not smell and I smell things he does not- so maybe he will like them. I'm beginning to think it is the PG I'm smelling.

I think you may like more of the juices you've tried after steeping them a while. On the other hand, it's a sad fact that you will probably like far less than half of the juices you try. DIY is nice in that respect - you can mix 5 ml and if you hate it, you're out a few pennies. You also learn a lot with every success AND failure.

I really should finish my coffee before I post.

I think HHV only sells online, and not a bricks & mortar

So my daughter shows up and says try this-handed me a pack of Blu's. Tried it -ok a good way to quit smoking. Did some research here on the EFC and went to the local B&M to buy 2-510's with a pcc-got to have the pack to hold... After 3 weeks of smoking & vaping I ordered an 650 ego with clearomizer. Much better but it all tastes wrong. So now I have DIY stuff on it's way. I see lots of experimenting in the future :) Since I read the EFC I figured I'd better drop in and say Hi I'm new here :) Anyone have an idea why the juice all tastes wonky to me? I do not think it's tastebuds as I'm not 100% off analogs yet. I could be wrong-first time for everything right?

Awesome! you daughter must be an angel! Welcome to the world of the living:)

As far as vendor juice, I buy from Kick Bass Vapor and have never ever ever had a chemical taste. I love the bakery stuff, and recently the rootbeer and sweet tea with raspberry or peach. For some of the tobacco flavors, I have friends that use The Plume Room. I don't personally vape those flavors, but have tasted them and got no chemical taste there either.

I don't know what your tastes are, but there are a few vendors out there that don't have any chemical taste. My experience has been that if a vendor has that flavor, it tends to run through the entire line. If you're going to order vendor juices, get a small bottle or a sample pack, if you taste chemical, write it off.

Too far from me, but Awesome Vapor is only 30 mins away and they have a juice bar too, as well as give a sample with every bigger bottle you buy. I do like their Cappacino. But it is hard for me to get down there.

I agree, I have gone to Awesome Vapor as well, but personally I find Vaperite juices better, as I prefer 50/50 PG/VG and their juices just seem better, more costly but better. Both places are anout the sam distance for me.

Edit: Another thing I do like about Vaperite's juice's is they put a 'produced' date on their bottle labels, so you know exactly how old it is.

Woodstock is a bit far from Dahlonega. My DIY kit came today. I must say I'm impressed with the wrapping :p I made a 3ml sample of Cappuccino & Bavarian cream-I'm good :) I like my first try. Will try another tomorrow. So glad I did my research on diy before ordering. I probably would have overdone the flavors otherwise.

Hopefully after steeping! A lot of juices taste funky at first, and get much better with a few days to rest. Some folks insist on "good when it arrives", and that's fine. However, some of my MOST favorite juices aren't nearly as good when they first get here as they will be in with a few days to steep. *tipping hat at Flying V and her Voo's Broo*

I've never had anything that had a chemical or soapy taste end up being OK even after steeping a month or two. I use to hang on to those soapy ones and hope they'd be vapeable. That flavor may have mellowed a month or two later but it was still there. It's in the base. If I got 5 samples from that vendor, it was in all of them.

I think about it like cooking. If I make you an Irish Beef Stew, and you taste it before it's quite done.... it's not going to be as good as it will be tomorrow. You may get one note at a time, or one stronger than another because it hasn't had time to blend yet.... but it should NOT taste like SOAP. Kick Bass Vapor's White Wabbit for example is like a coconut cake. I didn't taste cake when I got it, it was more of an overwhelming toasted coconut. I put it back in my box and didn't think I'd like it. I tasted it again a few weeks later when I was deciding what to keep and what to pass on to friends and the coconut mellowed just enough for the cake to come through more. It was very very nice. Still not for me because apparently I'm not a big fan of coconut as a vape. The point is, some flavors from them are great right out of the mail, some is better a week or two later, but none of it is unvapeable altogether or tastes like soap or chemicals.

I'm going to steep and let hubby have them-he has different taste buds we never taste the same thing the same way-If he does not like then rubbish bin them.
I made a couple today that I'm letting sit for a day or two so the ingredients will marry. Still vaping the first batch and I still like it. Cappuccino, bavarian cream and sweet-How could I not like :) Also needed something to vape (i'm not touching the nasties again)
I do agree with the cooking analogy-my stew always tastes better the next day. Thus the PB & choc and the cherry cola will sit till ready :) I want to mix a wintergreen/koolada but am afraid it will mess up my atomizer. the ce4+ has coffee the CE5 is iffy about working not sure why. seems to not like working till a couple hours after I fill it ???????????
