S.Stover, You may want to stick with automatic batteries. The manual buttons require pushing while you draw, and that might be a pain in the rear if you're having a shaking episode.
I found a testimonial (in a post here) for White Cloud disposables, so, I ordered ten of their full-size in a variety of flavors. They were much better than the NJOYs, both in terms of flavor, and longevity, but I still ended up with a few duds. At this point, all I can say about White Cloud's customer service is that we did have to send back the defective ones, on our nickel. I'll be able to say more when I find out how they resolve this.

Dear Mr Stover.
Your resourcefulness rekindles my hope in mankind..
From the techo/nerdy perspective: Take a look at the 510 connector on both of the batteries. You will notice on the auto battery the center post (the positive connection) has a hole right in the center. That's the point where air gets pulled across the auto sensor in order to make it function. That is also your point of concern with a 510 auto battery - the region you have to be careful of not getting liquid into the battery due to a flooding accident. It's not a bad idea to store an auto battery upside down when not in use - like in a heavy glass - to prevent any risk of that happening.
Those auto sensors are pretty sensitive. If you put anything on the hole, it may impede the switch from working at all. Since it shouldn't damage the switch or battery, though, it may be worth a try.I wonder if it would be possible to stuff some cotton into the hole, and/or cobble in a flapper/checkvalve.
The package is supposed to arrive today, it's probably out in the mailbox now (too much snow and ice for my crutches to gain any purchase, and I don't feel like taking a fall at the moment; my wife should be home pretty soon, so hopefully I'll be set in a little while).
I've been wondering if I should order a tank kit. From what I've read, a tank will be more efficient, give better flavor, but, they leak, they have to be held in a horizontal position, and you can't just put one in your pocket and go -- they are "for-home" devices.
Are there tanks that can be used as easily as cartridges?
