Today, my doctor asked me about e- cigs! He said he had a patient who smoked 2 packs a day and is having a hard time quitting. I showed him my set up and he asked me to vape it in his office!! I gave him the forum website info, and he started looking at it right there. He seemed so pleased that there is so much info here, and that he can pass the info to his patient. WOW, I was dumbfounded. :thumbs:Today was a regular checkup, he said my lungs sound great, and my O2 level was 98%. :p

That's pretty exciting! Congrats on the good checkup as well. It seems more and more people have been reporting positive results from check ups lately. How much more proof do they want?

It's NOT about proof. If God himself came to Earth and proclaimed that vapor was the second safest thing to inhale after pure oxygen, it wouldn't even slow down those that want to stop it. It's about money.

I showed my doc my Provari topped with a cartotank about a year ago when he asked if I was still smoking. He had only seen the disposable cigalikes before, so he asked a lot of questions and I gave him a good 10 minute summary about vaping as an alternative nicotine delivery system without the dangers of smoking. He was genuinely interested and accepting. He now refers to my PV as my "water pipe".

Mine's asked as well, and mentioned that she was going to recommend it to other patients who smoked.

She might re-think that if she saw all the gear I find "necessary," but whatever. :)
That's the only downside I've seen with suggesting people switch to vaping: I've spent a lot of money on it so I feel like I can't really suggest they'll save money on it (unless they smoke a LOT). I still tell them all about it, and encourage it, but man is it ever expensive if it becomes a hobby.

My Doctor was excited that I had stopped smoking. He said that he had seen some information on vaping but had not studied it extensively. I gave him some of the information I had found in my research. It was extremely gratifying to see that he was open to information and interested. Maybe some people are starting to grasp the idea?

I have been to see my doc probably 6 times in the last 2 years..all for sinus infections. Prior to that, I always received the quit smoking schpeel. Ever since I told him when asked if I still smoke, I said it depends on what you can smoking. I vape using an ecig. He kinda quirked an eye and said hmmmmmm.

Every time I am he he asks if I am still using it. I say yes. End of discussion. I get my prescription for a z-pack and go.

He is old school too.

It's good that you had an opportunity to educate your doctor and you educated them. I did the same thing back in 2009. My one suggestion for any vaper in the same situation would be to direct their doctors to the CASAA web site and the potential user to both ECF and CASAA.

Show him the latest study posted on the CASAA web site. It may get him to look more closely at vaping for his patients who smoke. And PLEASE, join CASAA.

Check my sig line. In my case, vaping so far has cost me less than 15% what smoking did, and I'm kind of a gear hound.

However, that gear includes DIY and rebuilding stuff, so although bright and shiny stuff, it does tend to be cheap...

I just don't like taking the money angle. Personally, I probably spend more on vaping than I did on smoking because I was more of a 1 pack a WEEK smoker. The fact is that it's healthier and, hey, I've spent less on other hobbies I have I turn so it probably all evens out.
