Yeah, lowering the nic level is my goal and I've done a bit of that already. At least he was concerned about me, that's more than I could say about some of my previous doctors. The consolation prize was vapemail when I got home. Got my IBTanked setup. Now to just get the holes in my carto the right size. First try ended up with holes that were too small :(

Good luck Rose on converting your doc.

My doc was so glad that I stopped smoking ciggys he didn't know what to do, lol. He was shocked at how quickly I had stopped after having smoked for 40 years. Once I started vaping, I never looked back. He commented on how good I sounded after listening to my lungs..no rattling. After I explained to him what it was all about, he was thrilled.
As for stepping down to 0 nic..maybe eventually.
But then, maybe not - I'm enjoying my 24-18mg vapes.
(Of course I told him I would step down but what he doesn't know won't hurt him, lol) :2cool:

He looked at me and said you really have to be careful of those, they have concentrated nicotine. He said I could develop a nicotine addiction.

I'm starting to wonder how some of these "doctors" made it through med school. Apparently critical thinking, logic, and rational thought are not on the curriculum in Medical Schools these days.

Comments like your doctor mad would NOT inspire confidence in me as to his qualifications and expertise in the field of health and medicine...

Let us know if you convert your doctor, that would be awesome! Make sure he joins this forum, LOL.

Oh that would be funny, but naw I don't think he is going to quit. Might make his life easier though cause he could just vape in his office. I am sure the nurses would like it they get tired of tracking him down when he sneaks off to smoke lol.

Well, Some people just can't accept that there is alternative ways that they didn't find out about 1:st. Especially when you comes and tell them when they are supposed to be the experts...
He is not totally off though, even if he doesn't know it him self...
What we are using has not yet been tested the same way as analogs. Many of the ingredients in our beloved liquids has been used in food and all other kind of stuff for us to eat and outside use and thereby considered not harmful but it hasn't really been intended to inhale. Even water can be poisonous when misused. My doc was thrilled that I quit analogs and said, well it can't be worse than the analogs anyway so...
Also I feel a lot better now and that can't be bad...I hope...

I go to an addiction specialist (Dr.) for something un-related to PVs and I told him I switched and he got a huge smile on his face. He was happy for me and he didn't know they made ones other than the njoy and blu style (cigarette size) so I showed him my kGo w/ vivi nova (this was before I got my ProVari and J-Tank) and he was really interested in hearing more. He was asking about the liquid, the PV, the vapor, EVERYTHING!

But he, as an addiction specialist, already has to think outside the box and understands harm reductions unlike many normal doctors.

Well I saw my psychiatrist today and she read in my file that I stopped smoking. She was very happy that I quit smoking using an ecig and was impressed by my Bolt/IBT combo. My other doctor is young, but so is she. I told her what my GP said and she agreed with me. Nicotine addiction is a small part of the smoking problem.

My Dr was thrilled as well HOWEVER I am not sure the nurse (she was impressed) put in my records HOW I quit smoking and I didn't elaborate because I didn't want to hear anything negative. At my last appointment 2 weeks ago she did blood work and when the results came back I was told I am EXTREMELY low on B12 and slightly anemic due to that. She put me on 2500 MCG's B12 sublingual, however when I researched that I found it said that caffeen and Nicotine both inhibit the body from absorbing B12!! I seriously give up!!

My doc is the same exact way except worse. I see him once a week and he gets paid $80 for my 45min visit and since the day I met him and shook his hand, he spends about 10-15 minutes of every visit telling me how the FDA and the association of US doctors or whatever are totally against e-cigs and how he goes to symposiums and e-cigs are discussed and all the doctors agree that e-cigarettes are unsafe and should be banned and how "they came in while bush was in office and if a democrat were in office they'd of never been allowed on the market so now we've got to do a clean up" blah blah blah blah blah. It really pisses me off. He gave me a quit smoking hotline number the 1st time we met as well. lol.

With all that said, I had to tell him that nicotine is non-cancerous. He didn't believe me either, and he challenged me to "bring in ONE document from a reputable source that touts nicotine as a safe drug" which i can't really do without a printer. so, he remains ignorant and annoying. Hes the type of person (old man :p jk) that will forget what you tell him if he doesn't agree with it. So every visit I mention in our little debate that nicotine is noncarcinogenic and its as if hes never heard it before and we get into the same exact debate, sometimes word for word. I hate it.

Which is why I'll probably be switching doctors soon. For the reasons above, and the fact that he wont prescribe me the anxiety medication that I 1st came to him for because I smoked *** when I was in highschool. I'm starting to hate older doctors. I really am.

Well, I just got back from seeing my Kaiser doctor. He says my lungs sound perfect and BP is OK. He was happy I quit smoking, until I tell him how. He looked at me and said you really have to be careful of those, they have concentrated nicotine. He said I could develop a nicotine addiction. I almost laughed in his face, but I restrained myself and just told him I was already addicted to nicotine. He asked if it was the kind you could step down and I said yes. He gave me Kaiser's stop smoking program phone # and we left it at that.

I was disappointed in his reaction. Guess I was kind of expecting a positive reaction. It was pretty funny in a sad sorta way though.

Uh huh. Kaiser. Go figure. ;)

That's funny. Ah so glad my doc is a 2 pad chain smoker he never raggs about anything nicotine related.

Both my doctor's parents died of lung cancer from smoking. He never pressured me. It's nice to be treated like an adult, with a brain.

He was delighted that I am vaping.

BTW, about older.......he's 70-something. Best doc I ever had, knew more about some stuff wrong with me than any of the whippersnappers. :)

your about to get a warning from a mod bro.

yeah, my doctor is a pretty big bum. I even told him about CASAA and the new e-liquid standards association and he laughed at me. Laughed at me. and then in one of our debates he told me that I was uneducated. he sarcastically asked me if I really thought that "my precious internet could really teach me better than years of schooling" and "people can put anything on the internet. and you don't know whats lies to trick you, or whats true"

...Idk about you guys, but I'm a PROFESSIONAL googler. I know whats a lie. I know how to check my sources. I'm always very kind, I try not to lead on that I believe everything hes saying is a big load... I say things like "oh, yeah... well, Idk, I mean I check my sources" and then he goes on another 5 minute rant.

So whatever.

Donate to CASAA and keep an eye out on the forumsfor legislation to harm our hobby guys. All I can say. because there are billion and trillion dollar organizations feeding our doctors garbage, and, if you haven't noticed, doctors get the last say in what stays legal in this country, a lot... but we have casaa, we have our pockets, and we can fight. don't lay down when the challenge comes. stand up.

It's not the hand to mouth, it's the brain to rectum that bothers me. What dolts. And the worst part is that a lot of them like that are just as lazy and uninformed in all areas of their practice, it's just that you happen to know something about nicotine and vaping, and so you could tell on this one issue. This is no joke. The more you know about medicine, the scarier it is. A lot of people die each year from physician prescribing errors, not counting misdiagnosis, neglect of readily detectable disease, etc. An MD who's stupid is likely to be consistently hypnotized by Big Pharma, out of touch with current research, i.e. just plain consistently stupid. Frankly, if I were you I would switch to another primary, ASAP.

Well in all reality He is right wed all be better off if we stepped down and quit all together. But I have 4 mods coming in the mail and several hundred ml of juice so I think Ill wait a few years before I cross that bridge.
