I bought what was sold as eGo 1300mAh. This was ordered on Mar5. I received it maybe 4 days later. The first time I used it; it lasted 12+ hours, and every day it is less time between charges. I saw a video on Utube that said these new batteries can't be overcharged, nor do they have a memory as the older type batteries did. So if I wasn't using that battery I charged it until the light turned green. I thought it took a long time to charge considering it wasn't fully discharged. So I've done that for 2 days. Now this morning it lasted less than 4 hours and it was dead. So I called the vendor regarding the 30 day warrantee.

Now here come the surprises: The customer service person contacted her Quality control people who said 1. The batteries can be overcharged 2. they do have a memory 3. One overcharging can ruin the battery forever 4. They know this because they manufacture the batteries.

So my warrantee is non existent--OK My questions are: Is eGo a type of connection or a brand name? If businesses all over the country are manufacturing eGo batteries; how can I tell if I'm getting a good one? Am I supposed to use the battery until it quits before recharging? Did I really ruin an eGo battery in less than a month? If I bought a knock-off how can I tell if I'm getting the real thing in the future?
I am a relative Newbie (2 months) and I thought I did my research before buying this set-up; obviously not enough research.

Thanks in advance for any advice, suggestions you may have.

I'd try to get more info on battery use. This all sounds fishy to me. I won't speak on how to use a battery correctly because I'm not a pro- but I've been using egos for 3 yrs and have done what you did and have had no issues.

If you purchased a non-name brand ego, they have a bad history. It's worth it to get a good name.

    Hello
For me I drain them before charging , My battery's have lasted 10 months and still work great .
Ego is a threading type and a brand . You will note that there are a LOT of ego makers .
When I got my ego's I got them from a good seller off of DHGate they had lots of sales and still had a very high happy customer rating .
Sold some to pay for what I wished to keep lol .
    I'm a cheep man lol
I would send yours back to the people you got them from , if they don't replace them you know that they are scammers and they know that the battery's are crap , you post on FB,twitter and every where to let others know what they are .
    Best wishes

Don't be too quick to condemn the batt. A lot of problems can be tied to the topper. Low ohm set ups can drain a 1300 in 4 hours easily. Old or gunked up coils can too because you end up taking longer hits since they don't heat as fast as a fresh coil. Your charger can also be bad or not capable of charging past 1000 mah.

Before we start blaming the battery, I want to know more about what charger you are using and what you are plugging the charger into.

What does the ratings plate on the charger dongle itself read? If it's a proper eGo charger it should read:

    DC output 4.2 volts
    420 mAh

What are you plugging the charger into? Are you using a computer USB port? Or are you using an AC to USB wall adapter? If it's a wall adapter it has to provide 500 mAh output current, minimum, for the eGo charger to function correctly,

Ego was originally a brand. You know how you ask someone to pass you a "kleenex" when the facial tissue may be a brand other than "Kleenex" including even a store-branded generic tissue. That's what has happened to the name "ego." Now, you can't depend on the brand of an ego as it simply means what type of threading it has. If you want to be as sure as possible that you're getting a good battery with lots of built in protections and want ego threading, buy only something like the Joye eGo. There are honest vendors or transparent ones who will tell you the ego they're selling is a generic one but alot of them don't. They'll just say "ego" and you'll learn eventually that the price tells the story. You'll pay more for a reputable brand like Joye but, to me, its worth it. I have Joye ego usb passthroughs and standards in multiple mahs that I've been using daily in rotation for over a year and a half and, so far, knock on wood, they haven't showed any decline. An example of what I paid (for a Joye 1000/1100 mah passthrough) is around $23.00. I have one generic ego 1300mah passthrough that's only about 3 months old and showing some small decline and it was $18.00. Since its a generic, I'm not even sure if it has all the protections that are in the Joye batteries either so for a $5.00 difference, I wish I had gotten a Joye instead but I went for the 200 or so higher mah. In hind sight... not worth it.

Thanks for responding. The Dongle reads eGo USB charger output DC 4.2v420mA
I saw a video on YouTube showing a battery with the connection plate recessed from over-tightening. I watched how he raised the connection plate, rescued the battery from the Hazard Waste trash bag, and followed the example. So far it has worked well.
    Thanks again
