You can also wrap the top lead around the positive post, then back onto itself. This will reduce the resistance of the wire in that area, preventing it from ever heating up.

I also just wrap my first coil, first fire got hot spot, but after adjusting the coil, all coils glow evenly. When filled with liquid, no hot spot, great taste and vapor..

However, when i put it vertically, after a few second, the top coil starting to glow, but if i tilt it, it is not glowing even after a few second. Is this still consider hot spot? No metallic taste at all, great taste, great vapor though..

Resistance maintain at 1.7 ohm, 4 wraps with 32 awg Kanthal, solid 400 mesh..

no, its just a coil that is glowing because there is no liquid on it. as long as it keeps wet at the position in which you vape its fine, although in time your wick might perform better vertically after a little break in , or try some 500 mesh.
