Well I'm no longer stuck with the blu. My first real vapor and I love it. I have a couple questions for the giant brain called ECF. The first is about charging. I know the chargers are specific and I'm good with that but my question is about the USB port used. I have charging blocks all over the house, built into my jeep, etc. Are they specific? Meaning can I only plug them into my laptop and the USB charging block that came with my ego kit or can I use any USB charging block I have lying around?
Next question:
When I bought this ego I made sure I bought from a ECF listed supplier and an authorized distributor listed on the joyetech website. I won't mention them because they have been great so far and I don't want to list them in a post that could be looked at as negative. On the joyetech web page is a box you can enter your serial number to make sure it's a legit ego. I have no serial number on my box. I want to know if this ego is authentic or not. From the joyetech site I get the impression all their products have serial numbers on them. Why doesn't mine? How can I check to see if its authentic?

Best to use the charger you got with the battery. And best to use something other than the computer for charging via usb.

As far as the serial number with joyetech, this is something that started with their eRoll ecig and I get they intend to do this with every product, I don't think they have it set up for all their product line right now and certain there are products in inventories that don't have serial numbers yet. Go by the 'knockoff' page at joyetech and the logos on the bottom end of eGo batts and other logos....

Unless your computer is old (no usb 2.0 or 3.0 support) it is perfectly fine to use your computer to charge your ego. The chargers are designed to operate this way and your computer has built in limits (protection) on what a usb port can draw as far as current goes. There is no harm done to your computer by using your usb to charge your ego or by connecting any other device designed to operate via usb.

JS,

The chances of both the battery and the charger having blown their charge protection circuits are very small. The odds of anything happening is quite small. Still, we've had at least 3 eGo's that have blown up reported here in the 3.5 years that I've been posting.

When the cost of a wall plug is low and the cost of repairing what may happen to a computer is much more than that, it just makes sense not to challenge a 'black swan' scenario where all charge circuits go out at the same time. If there is a case to where hooking up to the computer is the only option, then yeah, go for it.

All of the USB ports you have, and charging blocks for USB's are perfectly fine.. That is why the Universal Serial Bus was chosen for power supply...
