It seems to me that there are untold numbers of people -- in America at least, don't know about the rest of the world -- just *out looking* -- searching high and low! -- for a reason to be offended ...

Andria

Too true ... :(

I use public transportation a lot now that I'm retired ...

Last week on the train I had a guy who loudly complained to the conductor because I had moved away from him after his numerous attempts to start a meaningless conversation, apparently leading to a request for a "donation". This dude was angry, aggressive, and kind of smelled bad ...

Guess I offended him by continuing to read my book. It was a Louis Lamour novel, just getting to the big showdown ...

There is some justice in the world. The complainer didn't have a ticket, and was put off the train at the next stop ... :D

I've spoken to the some of the conductors about vaping. They have much bigger problems to deal with, and at least a couple of them vape discreetly ...

As do I ... ;)

Does Michigan still allow smoking in bars? I was surprised to find I was allowed to smoke in the Detroit airport if I went in a bar. It was early in the morning so I ordered coffee and smoked until boarding time was getting near.
denver airport has a bar that allows smoking and in europe and Russia airports have smoking rooms with built in air filters that keep the smoke out of the rest of the airport. the smoking lounge at the Moscow airport is very nice and I met a few stewardesses in that lounge.the US seems to be the only country that does not try to accommodate smokers

Perhaps,
It'd be interesting to see how many complaints you would get simulating shooting without bullets by like "using" a gun without bullets in it....
Get a complaint and being asked to stop, you show its not operational....
Completely different....
Can't even compare as there'd be completely different reactions....

Once upon a time.......

Most of my life I had the choice on what business I used. If I didn't like something about it, by golly, I could go somewhere else. Staying with the subject of restaurants, bad food and I didn't go back.....dirty kitchen and I didn't go back......sloppy waitress and I didn't go back......high prices and I didn't go back.....you should have the idea by now. I don't believe I ever complained and expected them to change to suit me. Even our government, which had far more urgent and important issues to deal with, jumped into the "I want it my way" societal situation.

I miss the old days!

I live near a casino that allows smoking in ever decreasing areas.

Thats old school dude. Also the way I think. If I own the place and I don't want you vaping, dry your eyes and get out.

For many reasons, not just smoking and vaping, restaurants are going up like crazy since smoking was banned. Within 20 miles (closest city in either direction) I bet I can go to several 200 places to eat tonite. When smoking was legal that was maybe a couple dozen.

I do remember the smokers whining like school girls the restaurants would all die. Instead they quadrupled.

I'd bet if every vaper in the world quit going to restaurants because they can't vape it would have the impact of a fart in hurricane.

I'm sure there are far more people who didn't go to restaurants because they couldn't stand the smell of cigarette smoke, than smokers who frequented restaurants because they could smoke...

Even when I smoked going to the casino that allowed smoke was instant BARF.

Now that its just in areas you can smell the stink from at least a 100 feet away.

We go there much more often now that smoking is banned in our favorite restaurants (in the casino, its banned everywhere else and has been for years).

Vapers are still going to go. I'd go. And vape in the restroom. Like someone is going to stop that. Hilarious!

And it should only be right that if I own the place and allow vaping, dry your eyes and get out. Unfortunately, government doesn't (eventually won't) let us make our own choice.

It very well may be that in your area, restaurants quadrupled, but in my area within a 30 mile radius (including a town of 30k), not counting fast food and top end, I can count the restaurants on my two hands, and at least 3 of them I avoid due to pathetic quality.

While that may very well be true, it is amazing how those righteous $(@+&'s sat and ate in the smoking section rather then wait for a table to open in the non-smoking section on a busy Sunday! I guess it wasn't all that horrible back then.

What gets my goat is vape shops that you cant vape in, or conventions or "expos` where you have to go vape in a non existent tent. I mean in a restaurant you have to share the place with a great many people. But in a vape shop it should be expected that you might run into someone that is vaping. That`s the REAL fight, not the made up I`m offended crap that pass`s for individual rights today.

I cant vape in a VAPE SHOP? THAT`S fighting words.

So true! I always worked the Sunday afternoon shift at a steakhouse in a small rural town I lived in, and they packed the place right after church; there weren't too many tables in the non-smoking area, so they'd happily sit in the smoking section. Back then, all citizens had rights, instead of only those who follow certain narrow guidelines. The puritans of the world give me such a pain.

I don't vape indoors, whether it's a restaurant or a friend's house for that matter unless I ask for permission first. It's just common decency.

Second hand smoke is bad. Second hand vapor? Who knows. I'm willing to accept whatever risk there might be, because I perceive it to be better than smoking. I don't expect everybody around me to assume the same.
