So I have been doing research on this site for about a week, and decided to buy a 510. I bought a Joye Dura-C 510 from Freshsmoking.com. The kit was more expensive than the one from cignot that I hear everyone recomend, but I wanted to buy local and they were willing to actually meet me with my purchase and answer any questions I had. I don't want to sound like a plug ..... or anything but they were really responsive to my e-mails, responding almost instantly. Great customer service.

Now on to what I bought and what I think.

I got the 2 batt 2 atty starter kit, USB Passthrough, 5 carts of Mrlboro and 5 carts of menthol plus some extra juice for refilling. Oh I also got a PCC

I had to charge the batteries overnight, but was able to try using the passthrough right away. I blew out the atty per what I read here, screwed it on, attached a cart and started to go to work.

Initial thoughts, from video's I saw online I thought there would be much more vapor. I also do not seem to get consistant results. Sometimes it seems like I get a really harsh th which makes me want to cough, other times i get flavor but it doesnt feel like i have inhaled anything. I do however get a bit of a tingle in my head that lets me know Im getting the nicotine.

Today I am trying it wireless (battery finally charged). It seemed much better than last night but I did still have a few anologs on the ride in. Just went outside for a few puffs on it and it was good. (I live in NJ and you cant vape inside). Also both today and yesterday I sometimes get a sizzling noise from it, not always though. Does that mean its flooded.

After I came back in I still kind of wanted to go back out for an analog, but I'm holding myself back from doing it. So I don't know if maybe I'm doing something wrong, or maybe the atty just needs to break in a bit more, but it seems like most people here get it, use it, and never think about a regular cigarette again.

Anyway, I will update further once I have had a few more hours with it.

Customer service is important! And you were able to get it a lot faster than lil' ole me, who is impatiently tracking her Priority Mail package on USPS.com and peeved that I haven't seen any movement in 36 hours.... we've got an ice storm heading our way and I really want it to get here before that delay! I can't blame my supplier, though, they put it in the mail at noon on Monday and I ordered Sunday....

Don't push yourself about dropping analogs immediately. Even cutting down a bit is an improvement to your health. My goal when I first get it is to cut down my analog usage by half, and drop them by the quit date I set (but I set that quit date when I first picked up the nasty habit, and if this doesn't work the only real alternative I see is to smoke as many analogs in a row as fast as I can until I make myself as sick as a dog -- to make my brain associate putting a burning .... to my mouth with clutching the porcelain god and hurling up my toenails, and going cold turkey after that).

Listening to a few of the reviews of the 510 working normally, I heard a sizzle, so it seems like that may be normal. I dunno this -- that is not expert advice here!

Hello and welcome,

Hang in there, it takes a good while to get used to these devices.

When it tastes "hot" or burnt, it may be that you are running out of
juice and your cart is drying out.

First thing, replace that white fluffy stuff inside your carts with blue
foam. You can buy it at any fish/pet store and you want the stuff rated
"Hot" for applications of high temps.

Just take a pair of tweezers, and pull that white fluffy juice wick out of
that cart and cut a piece of the foam the same lenghth, but 1 1/2 times
the width of the opening of the cart.
Take your tweezers, and PUSH the piece of foam down as far as possible
twords the hole in the mouthpiece. Now, fill the void space with your juice.

Note, VG is thinner, wets the cart material better, tastes better, and gives you better vapor.

Once you have your cart filled w/ juice, use your tweezers to reach down inside the cart and pull the piece of foam up to the top.
This will fill the foam up w/ juice like a sponge.

Have your foam surface about level w/ the top of the cart opening.

Take your new atty, and blow out any excess liquid (even the new ones have some liquid in them). Blow a few times until use see not more liquid coming out. Put about 2 drops of yuice directly on the bridge of your atty.
Insert your cart to your atty.
Make sure your batt is fully charged, and start vaping!!

Using the foam saturated with juice like flexing a sponge, will hold alot
of juice and you should get nice clouds of vapor (if using VG based juice).

As soon as you notice that hot or burnt taste, you need to repeat the above to refil your cart.

Think of that little piece of blue foam as a sponge that you want to squeeze to get the air out and release into the liquid to suck up the juice.

Just make sure your piece of foam is not too big, or it will not hold much juice.

Everyone finds their own favorite methods, but it takes some time to figure out.

Hope that makes sense and helps, if not, PM me ;-)

quick question, didnt want to start a new post on it, but do you need to remove the cart when your not vaping or is it safe to leave it on. I keep this thing by my desk at work and didnt take it apart everytime I finished but am not sure if that leads to flooding the atty or if its ok to leave it on all day.
The bridge of the atomizer should only wick as much juice as it needs.
There should be no need to take off the cartridge unless you are refilling.

Having said that, if your filler materials is too loose, some juice might drain out and get down to the atomizer, which could potentially flood it, although this is very unlikely with standard filler material.

Now if you have been messing around with cartridge mods and you are using different filler materials, and you haven't found the right balance between too tight and too loose for your filler material, then yes it can definitely happen.

If I"m not using my PV for a while, I try and perch it so that the cartridge end is "down" to prevent leakage or flooding.

When I'm using it, I tend to vape while keeping the battery end (or l.e.d. if it has one), slightly angled down to aid in gravity wicking.

When not in use (say, while I'm sleeping), I disconnect the atty from the battery, top up the cart and reconnect it to the atty, then let it sit in a small glass or cup with the battery threads up (to drain the atty overnight).

The next morning I'll add one drop to my atty bridge, make sure the cart stuffing is still appearing wet (wet, not pooled), and begin my day.

I still use my original atty's (rotation of 3), that I purchased back in December of '08 (I believe) !!

I only occasionally blow out the atty once in a while when the draw has decreased too much, or if I have inadvertently flooded the atty to the point of it seeping into the battery end threads area.

Don't worry about having analogs !! The key is to compliment yourself for every one you've avoided by using your PV instead. This is all about "harm reduction", which you achieve often, and should be commended.

Only YOU will know when or if you won't want an analog again. But really, there is no FAILURE here as long as you keep things in that perspective.

I'm very happy with my own results of cutting down analogs to under a pack a day from 2-3 packs a day. Some are lucky enough to simply quit tobacco right off the bat, others bounce, and the remainder reduce.

Even if I had only reduced my analogs by a few a day I'd still be happy in that achievement with "some" elimination of the analog toxins intake.

So "I'm" happy at where I am right now, and look forward to the next reduction stage when "I'm" ready for it.

VapeOn,
Greg

Thanks for all the advice/tips.

To answer the NJ question, yes its been banned in public places not at home of course. This state loves to make laws for the sake of making laws and whatever is percieved as bad or dangerous is outlawed before any research to the contrary has a chance to be done. Besides, I think they would rather you just keep smoking cigarettes because they make so much off of the taxes here.

So after 1 day of using my 510, I smoked 12 analogs compared to my 1 - 1 and a half usual packs a day. So far today (1 p.m. when im writing this) I have only had 4 which is down from what I would have smoked without it.

Also as the day went on, I got more and more out of my vaping than I seemed to earlier in the day and the previous evening. I assume this must have to do with the atty getting broken in more, although when I switched to my 2nd atty last night I felt like i was getting better results with it as well.

I'll try to keep informed of my progress here but the outlook is good. I thank everyone for their support and advice and please keep it coming. This weekend i am going to attempt doing the straw mod, the PTB mod and possibly the blue foam mod someone mentioned earlier in this post.

Happy Vaping

Good luck. Washington state has had the ban for so long I hardly remember being able to smoke inside anywhere except home. For awhile I would eat lunch in the bar but then that was banned as well. Probably a good thing now that I am not smoking, I don't want to smell it.
