My First Kit & Somewhat Apprehensive

We received our first official vape kits today. We bought 2 of the iKit/iSmoka beginner kits from vape dojo w/ a juice sampler. My wife has already started to use hers and hasn't had a real smoke for 4 hours, just the vapor.

I'm just feeling weird about the whole thing. Maybe it's because I'm old and have been smoking for 36 years. I have been 'practicing' with the Flings for a couple of weeks but now that I see the juice it's weirding me out.

Is it normal to wonder if this is really going to work? I know I'll be getting the nicotine that I crave but damn, it's hard to explain the apprehension.

The set-up doesn't bother me....it's the 'not smoking a real cigarette' thing.

I say.....go for it. I smoked for 37 years and thought nothing would ever get me to stop. Boy was I wrong. Go ahead, give it a whirl. By the way, when I started vaping I still smoked also for about 3 weeks, then one day I forgot to smoke and have not had one for 4 mos now. You never know if you like it, if you don't try it!!! I was scared too because the throw away ones I tried never ever seemed to hit like or look like cig smoke. Once I got my refillable deal it was like the light of vape had shined upon me. It feels and looks very much like a real smoke. Dive in head first!

I didn't really want to quit smoking, I loved it so much. and now I can't even stand the smell of them. And I forgot what my old L&M packs even looked like. I say give it a try! you already committed to buying the kits, why not try them out for a day, a week, a month... like everyone else is saying, yeah change IS scary, but it can also be a good thing! I also did wonder if it was going to work, and for the first 2 days it was weird. But now vaping to me is like smoking a cigarette.

Well, I did it.

My face didn't implode. I did get a nice throat feel. The tobacco juice isn't bad. It's definitely not like the real thing.

Is it normal to hear gurgling noises?

It is very odd, changing to something that isn't a cigs shape/weight. You will feel strange for a couple of days. This passes pretty quickly as you start feeling better. Once you get over the 'everyone's staring at me' feeling and people start asking you to try yours (I carry a few drip tip condoms for that purpose), you start feeling even better about it. It is quickly becoming more commonplace and less 'wierd'. I live in a rather small town and I am seeing more and more people vaping.

Give it a week. By then your wife won't be able to stand the smell of cigarette smoke any more and, umm, she will kinda help you with that quitting thing...

It's new, it's different. The key to vaping is the flexibility. Some people jump straight in and never touch another cigarette. When I was quitting I wanted to reach out and hurt those people. I continued to smoke during my first 90 days of vaping, albeit less and less as I went along. Find your own approach to this. It's truly an individual experience and that's one of the best things about this method. I was a 30 year 2 PAD smoker and I did it. And unless I started smoking when I was 6 that would make me... not exactly young either. If you are really invested in quitting that whole thing about being weirded about this being different will not be an issue for long. It is very different - that's a good thing.

Try it! You'll like it! (I bet the DW has said that to you three dozen times already...)

gurgling could be a few things, in my case, a lot of gurgling is a flooded atty/carto/etc. (took me a few days to figure out how to make that stop)

A word of advise, be careful vaping in your car. Throwing it out the window out of habit is more than possible

This was actually one of the things that really turned my wife and me on to vaping. "Hey! I can vape at the computer! Hey! We can vape while watching our favorite TV show! Hey! I don't have to go out in the blowing rain/snow/freezing weather to smoke! I can vape inside! THIS IS AWESOME!!!"

I was apprehensive at first too. The first few times I saw people with PVs I thought they were fools. I smoked for 12 years.

Been vaping 2 months and I love it. Can't believe how much better it really is. Just wait until you find the perfect flavors, and you will never want to go back.
