Still pretty early on the planning stages here, but I wanna share.
I have been wanting a passthrough for a while now, but really to cheap to buy it.
What I do have though is a wealth of spare electronic equipment, so I thought I would make my own.
I started with reading a DIY for a very simple USB passthrough I found on this site, however it was far from enough power to run my sub-ohm Atomizers, so it got my mind working... And I really think I could write on some capacitors to increase current in the same way they are used for subwoofers in a car, I'm just not sure at the moment how I would accomplish that(advice welcome).
So I then thought...i need a regulator with more current to begin with, and what I came up with is the power supply from an iMac 500. It puts out 5 volts at up to 14.5 amps
Which is pretty much on line with the power produced by an 18650 battery.
So that will be the base for my pass through,I have never used a vv device, so I think I want to reduce the voltage down to 4, my current plan, unless someone has a better suggestion is to add a potentiometer into the circuit, to allow variable voltage, although I'll be trying out 5 volts first,I hear that can lead to burnt taste though.
So that big boy power supply will sit on my desk like a hookah with 14 awg wire running to an end unit along the size of a tribe mech mod, with a momentary switch,pn/off flip switch, probably throw a fuse on there jic and end with a 510 connection.
