hey mike, pretty easy but i did solder the little tack on the body for the cap to slide into....i suppose you can use a small screw or something

My pipe is pvc with threads on both ends. I was actually thinking or dremeling out the final threads on the top end so that the "cap" could be unscrewed slightly (i.e. threads mesh) for transport, and then screw it tighter past the threads for usage.

I'm not opposed to soldering but I've only done it twice and I'm not very good at it!

I like the slots...you can lock it off? more or less

yeah....just slide it towards the middle and because of the spring....it pushes the cap and keeps it from sliding around
