Err ... hello. :D

I've been a heavy smoker for 45 years, for the last few using Lakeland vanilla flavoured hand rolling tobacco. I enjoy smoking, despite its current status in the wider world. I heard about e-cigs on another, unrelated, forum last week and thought I would give them a go.

I've started with a value pack from Nucig. They seem to have a poor reputation around the forum but I've found the Pro 3 version very easy to use and have been happy with it for the few days I've used it. So much so that I ordered another pack which I should have tomorrow, which is just as well as I made the mistake of not ordering any extra e-liquid first time round.

At the same time I also got a 510 starter kit from Genesis. This is the separate atomiser and cartride type and I've found it much more difficult to use than the Nucig cartomizer type. Genesis don't appear to sell cartomizers so I've ordered some from another site for it, so hopefully it will be better for me when I use them. Either way the batteries fit the Nucig cartomizers so all is not lost.

I have found the e-cigs surprisingly satisfying and have really cut down on proper cigs. In fact, if I'd had some extra e-liquid I might well even be down to zero cigs ...... just lit one because my last two e-cig things are on their last legs.

I've been having a good look round the forum. The information has been really helpful, so thanks for that. No doubt if I can't find any answers I'm looking for in future I'll pop a question on for all you experienced people to answer.

I'm quite tempted with the pub meet at Barnsley next month but it's a bit of a long drive after work on a week day. Would anyone else from the Leeds area be going by any chance?

Well, that's enough from me for now. If anyone has any must-know tips for me please feel free to post them.

Regards,

Fred :vapor:

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

The cartomizers arrived and fit the Genesis batteries just fine. I'm doing a lot better with them than the original atomizer/cartridge combo.

I've also received a couple of TECC Titan Compacts (they were BOGOF so couldn't resist). These also came with atomizers/cartridges but very strangely I've had no problem with these ones. Each pack included a 10ml bottles of e-liquid, one called Tobacco that to me has a nutty/woody flavour with just a hint of burning in it. The other, which is labelled Menthol, doesn't taste like any menthol cig I remember. It does, however, have a very nice minty taste. I'm enjoying both of these and will buy them again, unless my search for the ultimate flavour takes me somewhere else.

My second NUCIG value kit has also arrived and I'm still favouring these over the the other two types. I've washed out and slow dried their used cartomizers and have filled them with two liquids I also got from them, a very, very nice vanilla (never thought I would ever smoke custard but this has such a nice creamy taste  ) and a 'Dunhill' tobacco one. This is very plain, almost neutral, but is a nice alternative when I want a cigarette taste or, at least, don't want a 'flavour'.

The last of my current acquisitions is a DSE701 cigar from OKsmokey. It's not very realistic in the looks department, being more like a wood effect than tobacco leaf on the barrel, but the taste is pretty good. It's milder than I expected but the flavour is definitely cigarish and builds up during a session to give a nicely satisfying ligering taste in my mouth.

I've got a few more flavoured juices on order and am looking forward to trying them. I seem to have got into this lark in quite a big way but I'm genuinely enjoying it. My cigarette consumption is well down and might well cease altogether but I'm not putting any pressure on myself for that to happen within any given timescale.

The service I've had from each of the suppliers has been excellent, everything being delivered next day, and it has all worked, so I'm very pleased.

Chrissy, thanks for the link to the bigger kit. I've no doubt I'll be going down that route in the fullness of time but at the moment I like the handiness of the little ones. When I'm at work or out and about I can have a few of them, each with a different flavour, in my shirt pocket without them sticking out or bulging.

Sorry to go on so much but I think I might be using this thread to chart my progress in vaping, a sort of diary, if you like. Anyway, please feel free to ignore my ramblings.

Once again, thanks for your good wishes.

Regards,

Fred

I kinda like your ramblings Fred. I'll be interested to read your updates. :)

Well, err, Mom (is that what we should call you or, perhaps, it should be Su (short for Survivor) :) ) here is the next bit of ramble.

First point to make is that it only took the e-cig peskies a week to find me and make off with one of my atomizers and cartridges. They must have spirited them away ...... I mean, it's not like I would lose them, is it?

So, how am I getting on with everything? I still prefer the cartomizers to the separate atomizers and cartridges (just as well seeing as the Peskies like them ;)) and the Nucig is still my favourite. I like the look of it and the soft feel. The downside is that you can't refill them by the condom method ...... they don't come with any (steady, steady ;)). The batteries are also the automatic type, which I much prefer. Three of the other ones I have are the push-button type and it just seems so strange having to 'switch' a cigarette on. On the downside, having to frequently drip fluid into the cartomizers is a bit of a pain, so they're not my perfect solution.

So, continuing my search for the ultimate vaping experience, I have ordered two 510 Titan Tank kits from TECC, who coincidentally put them on offer about the same time I decided I needed something else to try. :toast: I'm intending these be for longer vaping sessions in the evenings and at weekends and, hopefully, the tank system will mean fewer refilling stops. I shall carry on with the lookalike ones for work as my vaping will be for much shorter periods.

I've also ordered a kit from Liberro of their lookalike Realis ones. They definitely can be condom refilled (they even show you how on their website). They're a bit smaller than the Nucig ones and, always a good thing, a bit cheaper. This is especially so if you enter the code ECR69 at the checkout.

I got this code from watching a bloke called Scott who does video reviews (E-Cig-Reviews.com - Electronic cigarette and E-Liquid video reviews, tutorials, user guides and discount codes) during which he takes great delight in blowing loads of smoke rings. If anyone would like to learn to do that themselves he even has a tutorial showing how to do several different types.

I'm loving my DSE701 cigar. It looks pretty good and I really like the flavour - a very nice vape late on in the evening. There's something about having a device the right size to mimic the experience of smoking the real thing that I find better than having some wierd piece of ironmongery instead.

I've acquired several differently flavoured liquids and pretty much like them all. Some are better than others and will definitely be keepers but I'll make more mention of them when I've had longer to assess them.

So, there you are, fully up to date with how things are. Oh, I nearly forgot, having got all the kit charged and primed from Thursday onwards my cigarette consumption went as follows: Thursday 4, Friday 3, Saturday 0 and also none today so far. I have no desire to smoke now so, hopefully, there will be health benefits for me.

Until my next ramble, regards,

Fred :) :vapor:

Thank you all.

I'm just sitting here pondering a few things. One is, why is life expectancy so short? Not mine, you understand :), but that of our hardware consumables: batteries, atomisers (in all their guises) and even PCC's. It seems to me modern batteries, at least, are usually very reliable and durable, so how can they they be so fickle in our kit?

I do hope my question isn't on a par with the meaning of life one. ;)

Welcome FredSpencer. Sorry to hear that you've slipped back to cigs. Next time you make a purchase, but extra of everything so you don't run out of supplies. As for battery life, the higher the mah rating on a battery the longer it will last between charges. Those little slim ecigs only have around 180 mah and last around 1 -2 hrs. A 650 mah battery will last around 6-8 hrs depending on how much you vape. Attys are cheap and disposable but you can extend their life with proper cleaning.

Back again. ;)

Well, another week has passed and still no cigs. No big effort needed to be off them, the e-cigs are so much nicer.

I found where the Peskies hid that atomiser and cartridge they filched ...... I don't know how the little devils managed to open the box they hid them in though. ;) And they've been up to their tricks again ...... they put one of my batteries in a shirt pocket just before I put it in the wash ...... well, it had to be them, it's not as if I wouldn't have checked my pockets before I put the wash on, is it? ;) Sadly the battery is dead, which is a shame as it was one of my preferred automatics.

The TECC Titan Tank kits are doing sterling work. Much easier to fill and smoke, and lasting longer too. One of the batteries in each kit is a normal size and rated at 220 mAh while the other is longer and rated at 340 mAh. Both are automatics and are a very sylish brushed steel finish. I'm very impressed with them.

The other new acquisition, the Liberro Realis, are now my favourite lookalike e-cigs. They're smaller and lighter and the condom filling works a treat. They're not quite as good looking as the Nucig ones but definitely work better for me. They came with a PCC and six cartridges and I also got a spare battery. I have two cartridges loaded with Golden Virginia, two with Amber Leaf and two with Old Holborn. I vape them in random order so I don't get used to each for too long and stop tasting it.

I can't seem to stop ordering liquids from various sources. Some I've already decided aren't as good as the ones I've already mentioned and some I didn't like at all. None are a particularly strong flavour so I'm giving careful consideration to buying some flavourings to see what I can make of them. I should think it will work out alright if I add favourites like vanilla and cigar to them.

I think that's brought things up to date for now. I hope everyone is keeping well and enjoying vaping as much as I am.

Bye for now,

Fred :vapor:
