My first Provari "blonde moment"

YIPEE! I got a (new to me) mini Provari off classifieds here and can't wait. It came in vapemail yesterday. I put the battery in and nothing. Uh-oh. Did I get a bum unit? The battery worked fine in my Vamo. So I came in here wondering what I was doing wrong - why I couldn't even get it to turn on. Then, like a really bad joke, I found my answer. All of my batteries are 18350 FLAT TOPS. Geesh.

Just thought I'd share. Maybe someother new Provari owner might avoid the same frustration.

Hehe, ya button top only. Also watch out, when you put a new battery in and screw the cap on it'll already be turned on (alteast this is how mine is). I find this a tad odd and irritating, my only beef with the ProVari.

Nope. I have to order them and WAIT (grrr). No b&m store in town carries them. This just amplifies why I don't buy locally.

just make sure your using quality batteries.
AW is a popular brand, and is what is recommended by provari.

Using crappy batteries in a provari may not make the unit explode. But, the higher current drain may make cheapo batteries warmer than they want to be, decreasing the life of the batteries. or potentially the unit.

cost of cheap batteries doesn't help the wallet if you are constantly replacing them.

not criticizing or claiming that is what you are doing, this is just a heads up.

I did order AW batteries. None of the vendors in state carried them and only 1 carried the ef's and they put a limit on how many I could order (only 1 battery) which seemed weird. Amazon didn't offer any on prime. They should be a lot more common. I have 2 other pv's that use 18350 (but flat tops).

Next time try RTDVapor.com.....I know you were trying to go with in-state but they have SUPER fast shipping and great prices on AW batteries and accessories.

Some people will also tell you to just go buy the mini rare earth magnets and use them in place of the "nipple" on the battery. I wouldnt recommend it as it can void your warranty(if you have one)and could cause malfunctions or failure if it slides or is dropped.

I looked up RTD Vapor and they are in the east. I have never gotten a priority package from the east in under 5 days. So. Calif can get here in about 48hrs with regular 1st class, same as in state. I was hoping to get an order in so it could get out today. Amazon already sent tracking. I could see the charger by Saturday. I'm hoping NM will be close enough to do the same.

I have an issue with the latest round of b&m's opening in the area. How can they sell mods without batteries?

Whoo-hoo! I got my delivery notice with tracking from High Desert Vapes and my new batteries are coming priority (I know I didn't pay extra - I just included a note saying I was desperate) and will be here Saturday or Monday! Overall, I've got high praises for most of the online retailers I've delt with.

(OMG. Their art glass tanks were on sale too. Now that's willpower not to order one)

It's not RTD's fault, but even priority takes over 5 days from the east. I've talked to the P.O. about this many times and there's no "guarentee" even paying for priority. I get the fastest delivery from the west coast. L.A. is SUPER fast. I think it has something to do with the airline routes they use.

I have a battery box coming from a co-op that closed along with 8 more batteries. That's kind of the double burn of this. I've got way more batteries than I need now when it comes to button tops. I didn't order flat tops which I need now for another mod and one of those is dead due to the charger popping - which I'll need to replace. I had planned on sticking with 18350 sized pv's for simplicity.

If I can get my ELA and also find out how to add another Red Provari in both sizes then it may be possible. Problem is I already got three Provari's and I'm having a hard time convincing myself that I need one or two more.

And .... What more reason do you need? It's cheaper than a Hybrid or Zenesis after all.
Well, that's not true anymore. The iHybrid "Pure" should be selling for <$100 if your standing in line at the right time and place. It's not red though. See? All thinking adds up to a red Provari.

I do it every time I "need" a new pair of shoes. Easy-peasy. Call it chick-math.

That's the only good thing about living in Kansas, I'm 3 days from pretty much anywhere in the country.

Thanks for the tip, I just ordered a couple. I have only one functioning button top at the moment. A good price and terms from this vendor Zapped! It simply won't do for my ProVari to have any down time due to battery issues.

I realize the pic is of a flat top battery, but Fasttech said they were button top. I know the Provari can only take button top batteries or I wouldn't have given the link. But here is another link, same battery different color and the correct pic is shown.
