So, I've been lurking this forum for awhile, made a few posts, and been trying to learn as much as possible. I've used a few of the disposables before and felt like this might be the way to finally quit smoking, I've been at about a half a pack a day for as long as I can remember.

I didn't want to start off with a cig-a-like after reading everything here so I ordered the Try Me eGo 1100mah starter kit from smoktek.com which came with a ce4 clearomizer. I also ordered some juices from mt. Baker vapors, and first off let me say that both sites gave me a great experience. For the PV, it's exactly as described and I paid a little extra for priority shipping and received it two days after ordering. Mt. Baker was great, James started a live chat with me while I was browsing, answered a few questions and I placed my order with standard shipping and also got it in two days :) with a free sample of grape to boot!

After letting the battery charge fully, I filled my clearomizer with some Caramel Apple and have been happily vaping away. I'm definitely getting better vapor production and TH than with any of disposables I tried, and while I'm not completely sold on the Caramel Apple(it's good but sweet, especially since I'm used to actual tobacco smoke) I'm definitely happy with the vaping.

I'm already planning my next hardware purchase, just have to figure out what styles the wife will like. Just wanted to share my first experiences as a noob.

Nice! Glad to hear you're enjoying the switch and the good experience with your e-cig. I started out with a Joye 900mah passthrough; much like the battery you are using. They are good, that's for sure :) The CE4 is a good disposable. I thought I'd get a Stardust, which looks a lot like the CE4, but it can be taken apart for cleaning. I purchased 4 of them and only two of them are still working after 2 months. They are prone to leaking. I thought I'd warn you to save you possible trouble down the road. :)

I'd suggest you give a menthol flavor a shot. I didn't smoke methol cigs, but I've found it to be a satisfying vape. Many non-menthol ex-smokers would agree it seems. :)

Thanks everybody :D

JazzyTech I'm looking at picking up a couple Kanger T3's and some replacement coils, and I'm sure I'll be trying out the cleaning and dry burn techniques I've been looking up as I go along. As for menthol, I've been smoking the camel crush bold's for awhile, I like to switch it up depending on the time of day and what I'm drinking so I'm sure I'll try a menthol juice sometime.

Right now my juice selection is: dekang tobacco(ordered with my PV in case my juice order was late), and MBV caramel apple, butterscotch, east coast tobacco, and Grappler(which I got as a free sample). Right now I just wish I had a dripping atty so I could try them out ;)

Congrats, I know exactly how you feel. Wasn't too long ago that I moved from the cig type products and got an ego kit, I was in heaven. Just got an ego twist and am looking to get a vamo in the near future. Try not to over vape like I did when I got my ego kit, my throat was so dry, even with drinking tons of water. Your probably taking in 3 times as much vapor now.

congrats on switching over......your lungs will love you. I started with cig like model......vape was ok, flavour was good, but batteries always needed recharging........i switched to a bigger model.....ego t tank model, so i can fill the tank with liquid, much better vapor and throat hit.....mt baker has some very good flavours, for very cheap....(try the 555) if you want a nice tabacco flavour....i recently ordered the mt3 kanger clearomizers.....maybe it will deliver better flavour, all i know is i dont crave a real cig.....and all the crap that goes into your lungs.......have fun with it, experiment with flavours........anything that keeps you off real cigs..

Congrats on the switch!! If the caramel apple is too sweet, consider adding in some of the tobacco juice. That might be just what you need to balance it out.

I added some of the EC Tobacco juice and it definitely cut the sweetness, though now it tastes a little perfumey, so maybe I need to let my tobacco juice steep some?

Just a quick update, I haven't had an analog since Sunday, so going on 3 days now :D I'm liking the Caramel Apple more now, not sure if it just needed to steep a little or if my taste buds are regenerating. The free sample I got from MBV of Grappler is delicious, just wish it was a higher nic content. I also ordered an eGo for my wife, and a few Kanger T3's that should be here by the end of the week. So all in all, things are going well, thanks ECF!

Good to hear!

My guess is the flavor change is a little bit of both. Be prepared for your taste buds to take you on a roller coaster of ups and downs over the next month (save some of your less favorite juice for the week where you can't taste any juice).

A lot of MBV tends to do well after a steep, so the caramel apple may very will get better with age. And I've heard umpteen thumbs up this week for Grappler, so I'm hoping it gets added to their permanent rotation!

You've taken your first step into a larger world.

The biggest mistake that I made about three years ago was starting out with a poorly-designed, under-powered e-cig from nJoy. I have no idea what the present-day state of starters / disposables is, but that experience left a bad taste in my mouth (both literally and figuratively) for the whole concept of vaping. It took me a while to try again, with one of the older eGo, and that's how I finally got to start taking this seriously.

Sounds to me like you're on the right track.

Coming to this forum opened my eyes to a dizzyingly huge array of products / techniques / etc. It can be mind-boggling. Don't rush it. And congrats.

@VapAce thanks :)

@akatina yeah, I'm learning about steeping, and my taste buds are already going wacky. In one day I'll have sessions where I can't taste a thing, and others when the flavor is great(could also be my crappy clearo though). I think grappler will be one of my goto juices. And I've got a bottle of dekang tobacco set aside for when my taste buds crap out and I just need "something" to vape ;)

@Joey_P yup, I love the ego, and I'm hoping the T3's will just make it even better. There's so much info here, and so many options out there, the hardest thing for me right now is not going overboard on ordering stuff.

I know what you mean.

I'd been using eGo twist batteries with the eGo-C tank system for a long time. Decided I wanted something a bit more consistent, and after a lot of searching around I settled on a Lavatube and a Vivi Nova tank system. No sooner do I start using that setup (and I absolutely love it, incidentally) do I find out that the "latest rage" is this Boge-style tank, with a dizzying array of "dual coil" atomizers that may or may not have dual coils, and some arbitrary number of holes punched in them, and resistances that some people spec as per-coil while others spec as net-parallel, and on and on...

Don't get hardware-happy. I can't stress that enough. And, in all seriousness, try to find out if there's a retail store near you. I'd been mail-ordering everything for the longest time, and by pure chance I happened to discover that there are not one but two retail e-cig vendors within about 10 miles of where I work. (In opposite directions, annoyingly, but none the less...)

There's really no substitute for being able to walk into the store and physically handle the stuff you're thinking about buying, as opposed to just looking at pictures of it on a web site. Most retail stores will also let you sample their juices before you buy- they typically have a sample atomizer for each flavor they carry, with a bunch of disposable silicone tips. There's no substitute for actually trying out a new flavor first-hand, as opposed to just reading about it.
