Hello everyone, I've been lurking for awhile and finally got to ordering some supplies. I'm pretty excited about being apart of the community.

Here is my recipe, if anyone is down to try it, please shoot some tips my way.

Nicotine Strength 6.00 mg
PG Level 40.00%
VG Level 60.00%
Flavor Level 24%
Amount to make 30.000 ml

Nicotine, 6.00%, 36.0, 2.057 g, 1.800 ml
PG, 13.00%, 78.0, 4.040 g, 3.900 ml
VG, 57.00%, 342.0, 21.358 g, 17.100 ml
Mountain Dew, 16.00%, 96.0, 4.973 g, 4.800 ml
Vanilla Custard, 8.00%, 48.0, 2.486 g, 2.400 ml

My flavors are in the calculator as pg base, and the nicotine is 50/50. I'm mixing by weight.

I know I went a little heavy on the flavoring @ 24%, but I slowly added it as I made it and it didn't seem to have a lot of flavor. Thinking back I might have been getting desensitized (vapor tongue or whatever) from testing it so much while I was mixing. But I think it turned out pretty good! I feel like 24% is definitely on the high side, but is it acceptable?

My flavors came from vapeplay.com, which brings me to my question. Has anyone heard of them, or know where they get their concentrates. Or if they run it in house? They have not responded to any of my emails and there is very little information about them on the internet. I ordered their flavors because it is a local company (+1 for fast shipping) and I plan on comparing them with some of the mainstream flavors after i get some more experience.

Welcome to the forum. I haven't given that flavor combination a thought before; almost a Mountain Dew Float.

Not too sure about Vapeplay, or where they get the flavors from. I can tell you that if they are rebottling FlavorWest flavors, that 24% is not that far off from what my recipes end up like.
I've been trying to use more concentrated flavors, as I seem to have developed a PG sensitivity. Seems like you are on the right track!

Thank you! I was trying to think outside of the box and I only ordered a few flavors for my first order. surprisingly, its not bad!

I will see how it is after a couple of weeks, and adjust from there. In the meantime, do you know of any good sample packs of flavors that I can order, instead of spending $2-3 on each bottle for a 10ml?

Thanks again for the welcome and the info.

I'm confused. When you ask about "any good sample packs of flavors" that you can order...you mean sample packs of already made eliquid, ready to vape, right?

But your Mountain Dew and Vanilla Custard you used in your recipe were flavorings, right? So you're not asking about more of those.

Sorry if that was not clear. I am asking about sample packs of flavor concentrate that I can order. Not juice that is already premade.

I've never seen sample packs of flavorings, only ready-made eliquid flavors ready to vape. There are so many different flavorings from each company (TFA, Capella, Lorann, etc.), and quite a few of the companies themselves. Only way I could see that any might do it...would be to offer a creams sampler, or a fruit sampler, etc. But I've never run across those anywhere. Someone else may know if there is such a thing though now.

One of the first things many DIYers do, to figure out what flavorings they want to order...is to find some recipes they'd like to make. See if any of those recipes have some flavorings in common, and start a tentative list of those to buy. Then add some creams, sweeteners, etc. to the list...that might be additional different flavorings found in some of them. Will keep you from ordering a bunch of flavorings you might like, but can't make recipes from...because you need others you didn't order as well.

Welcome.

I get my flavors from Wizard Labs. You can get an ounce of flavor concentrates for less than $4.00. They have smaller 8 ml bottles (to see if you like first) for less than $1.50 in most cases...you'd be surprised how much juice you can flavor from an 8 ml bottle! They have TFA, Capellas, Inawera, LorAnn, and Seedman's brand flavors and a very wide selection of other DIY stuff. Lot's of other places on the web have similar offerings, so shop around.

I was hoping someone else would probably know about it if there was such a thing. I'll pass on the link to friends getting into DIY who would like something even smaller than the 8mL size WL has, that I knew about already. :)

Added after checking out the linked website: I think some friends may go ahead with WL though, as from PA...their 4mL size is only 9 cents less than WL's 8mL size!

Size isn't everything though. There is also the issue of how concentrated the flavor is. What good is getting 8ml rather than 4ml if you need to use twice as much to get the same flavor?

One of the main reasons why I no longer buy any Capellas flavors is because they are so weak it takes a massive amount of flavoring to get any good tasting juice. Want a vanilla custard, better be prepared to use 15-20% of Cap, but you can use just 5% of FA or 8-10% of TFA and get the same strength of taste. I very rarely have any mixes that total more than 10% flavoring because I avoid the companies that sell heavily diluted flavorings.

Probably the most extreme example of this that I've found is Black Cherry. Order it from Capella and you'll be using 10% to get a good taste. Order it from FlavourArt and you'll probably find that 2% is overpowering your other flavors. When I use FA Black Cherry I tend to mix at 1%, which is a tenth of the amount of flavoring compared to Cap.

The "what good is getting 8mL rather than 4mL"... is that in this case, the 4mL from the PA website is the exact same flavoring as their TFA 8mL size sold on WL for only 9 cents more per vial.
