Hi im new to ECF not new to the world of e-cigs/PV's. Been into the whole e-cig thing for a little over a year and quite analog cigs bout 6 months ago. I wanted to say hello and tell you all this site is amazing alot of great people awesome tips and advice, 5 stars.

I'm now getting into mixing my own liquids. And while i've read tons of info and downloaded all the juice calculators and talked to alot of people, im a visual kinda person. I'd like to throw out what my ideas are and what im working with and what end result i want and just get some feedback as to what you think. And of course do i have the right idea or not.

So i have bought

300ml bottle of PG that is labeled as 48mg Nicotine. (i understand that means 4.8% per ml)
12oz bottle of VG
And PG based flavorings.

When i bought e-liquid the guy would list them as 11strength 18strength 24strength. I thought of well 11 is to low id like 24 strength. So thats what i bought (in 10ml bttls). Now this is where i got confused when he says 24strength does this mean 2.4%nic per ml or by 24strength does this mean theres like 5mls of PG nic mix at 4.8 per ml giving a 24% over the use of the whole bottle?

My target is a 70/30 PG/VG 20% flavoring mix. So i know based off the calculators if i have a Nic base that is 48 thats 4.8 per ml. So in a 10 ml bottle where 24 is the desired nic strength, im adding 5 mls of this PG nic mix, 3mls of just VG and 2 ml's of flavoring. So.. because the flavoring is PG based this will give me my 70/30 20% flavoring mix correct? Or am i off and this recipe is going to give me a bad result and more nic then im use to inhaling. Any help would be great i know this is a pain in the rear but i just want to know if i've got the idea down or am i off, and if so an explanation as to where im off at. I think im just mainly confused on the e-liquid i buy cause its listed as 10strength 18strength and so on.

Thanks so much for your help

Dunno - most people use a calculator - this is a popular one
eJuice Me Up - e-Juice e-Liquid Recipe Calculator

A bottle marked 24 strength is 24mg per ml

And I recommend you make a small no-nic batch first to test your flavoring percent. make a 1ml batch. 20% could be way off for whatever flavoring you have

Strength refers to mg/ml. This make measuing easier too.

If you want to make 10ml of 24mg/ml you know that you'll need 240mg of nicotine. Divide the total nicotine by your base of 48mg/ml and it comes to 5ml. (Which we were expecting as 24 is half of 48 and 5ml is half of the 10ml you're making)

Now to make the 10ml juice we already have 5ml of 48mg/ml and we add 20% flavoring, 2ml, so we have 7ml already there. If we add 3ml, 30%, of VG we now have 10ml of 24mg/ml juice at a 70/30 PG/VG ratio.

Just avoid using the drop measuring method as VG drops are larger than PG drops and it will make your ratio different and reduce the final nic strength.

Yeah, experiment. Depending of the exact flavoring you intend to use, it may be a good batch, a strong batch, a really strong batch, or a batch that is light in taste.

The majority of flavorings that I've used would produce a fairly strong flavored juice with that recipe.

I like strong flavor, so it sits well with me.

Too strong on flavoring can result in a "chemical", or "perfume" taste and in some cases, too much flavoring actually reduces the perceieved flavor.
