My first Reo is on the way! Battery questions...

So I've been kicking around the idea of stepping up to a mod, and happened across a great deal on the classifieds so my first ever Reo(a mini) is on its way. This is my first mod, so I don't have any batteries yet, and have a couple of quick questions:

Protected or non? I believe that protected batts can be a little longer, and aren't exactly interchangeable with unprotected batts, right? I need 14500 unprotected batts, right?

Can I get the batteries I need in a store? I haven't gone in person yet, but a quick search of the RadioShack and Batteries Plus websites didn't turn up any batteries listed as 14500. Is it just that they are labeled differently, and maybe a knowledgeable employee will know what I'm looking for?

I managed to find the batteries for crazy cheap on Ebay. I know that you get what you pay for, and I'm willing to spend the extra money if it's worth it. It's just that I can get 2 batts and a charger for the same price as a single battery on the sites I've seen listed here(Oveready and Lighthound). Will cheaper batts just cause me more problems?

Thanks in advance, I'm sure this has been discussed before and I DID look. There's just so much information on here that it's hard to sift through sometimes. I'm trying to get this done as soon as possible so I don't have my first mod sitting there useless due to lack of batteries.

You need the AW IMR 14500 3.7v 600mah protected battery. I get mine from Dave at Super T manf. Best prices around and a nice Guy to deal with.

You won't find them in any brick and motar store then I know of only online.

Thanks for the quick responses. I guess I'll have to order my batts online. It's going to be difficult to look at my new Mini without using it for a few days. Oh well, I'm sure it will be worth it when I do get to use it.

You mentioned the Mini is your first mod. What do you already have on hand?

Well right now I'm using an eGo, so I've got plenty of 510 stuff, but it's mainly cartos. I've only got one good atomizer, and one I've been meaning to try to clean. I suppose I'll have to start stocking up on attys rather than cartos...

If you have a variety of nicotine levels on hand, be sure to have the lowest out and ready, it really does hit harder (but in a very satisfying way, you just absorb a bit more nicotine more quickly).

Well that's kind of scary. Most of my juice is 18 mg, except for some 24. I was thinking of stepping down to 12 because I get a little vape-happy with my eGo. I'm going to have an interesting day when I first get my Reo working!

Start with the 18 mg and guzzle lots of water. You'll be fine.

Actually, the AW IMR 14500 is a safe chemistry UNprotected battery. Just a typo, but wanted to prevent future confusion.
