Now, the question. Why isn't RM2 design to be flushed to the mod? Fully installed, there is a big gap and I can see the copper bottom of RM2.

It's not made by Rob, He mods them for us, drilling holes cutting groves, changing insulators etc. It is also made to fit any Reo some of the older ones need the deeper milled base I think. I've seen people put an o-ring there, that would probably work nicely on your black Reo.

Edit: glad you started a new thread. congrats and welcome to Reoville.

it's brass and it soon gets encrusted with dirt from my work and my pockets and car and i am too idle to bother with o-rings or beauty rings.

I think the bottom is irrelevant for 2 reasons: it's a breeze to build on since the posts are miles apart and whatever you do build can touch the base with no ill-effects since it's ceramic and will not short.

If you are certain you want one that meets the body then you can buy a LP (low profile) Reo and an unmilled RM2. If you have a standard Reo with a normal drip well, then the IGO that Rob sells will fit it too, as will a cyclone (the one without the AFC - airflow control cap).

All of those atties are good. You can also go to plan B and grind the dripwell down yourself which is what i did, but i am both lazy and impatient and Rob's ones look better if a pristine finish matters to you.
