My First REO

Got my Grand in the mail yesterday. I didn't receive any tracking info, so I was very surprised. Made a coil (28 ga. 8wrap on a 1/16th in.mandrell, 1.2 ohms) and fired it up. No contact, the atty worked on another mod. I took the ground spring off and sanded the paint under it off for better contact. Not it. took firing pin guard off, all looked okay. Stuck batt in and it fired with out the guard ( I had to pull batt to stop firing I was prepared for this) Problem turned out to be the gold button I purchased from REO was not allowing the pin to reach the batt. I was using a flat-top that I already had. I will have to shim the top of the plastic trigger post higher to give clearance for trigger to reach flat-top. Works fine without the new button. Just so any other new Reo owner knows.

Lordy this can make vapor! What a ingenious device! I am very happy. :D

The issues with using flat tops is that the Reo Grand was designed to fit the AW IMR button tops. Should you need to purchase new batteries down the line, the highly suggested battery is the 18650 AW IMR 1600mah. They fit perfectly (you can utilize your brass button cover with no issues) and there will be no undue strain on the firing pin spring from having to "reach" the top of your flat top. Good luck, and welcome to Reoville. It's awesome here.

PS: 1.2ohm, 28ga microcoil is my favorite ;). We also love pics! Show us yours, and someone will be along soon to hand you your official badge!

button covers cause more 'locked pin' 'mod won't fire' 'pin is bent' stuff than anything else i can think of.

I'm sure someone will be along to say it's not so, but it is. The way to fit the button cover is to be brutal - with the battery in the mod, press that cover on - HARD.

That then is the maximum you ever have to press the button and if you find yourself pressing like that, change the battery or clean the Reo and file and noalox it.

Thank you all. As I said I ordered the proper battery they just have not arrived.

No problem. Some of us (okay, myself, particularly) are slow typers, so it seems like you're bombarded with the same message at all once. We REALLY like to be friendly and helpful. Of course you've got batteries incoming. All the smart people live in Reoville, but we're impatient, too. So I can totally see why you'd want to fire up that baby with whatever you got on hand, lol!

Hopefully, you had a soft seat close by when you took your first Reo toot. Didn't you just faint with the heavenly vape experience, then weep at the revelation that is the Reo? Or was that just me?

I am already working on getting another. I have to be nice to my wife for at least a week.

I had to do that, too;)! I wanted to order two right of the bat, since EVERYONE here warned me I'd want a second right away. Hubby said one. Period. Well...Two months later, I own 4, lol!

I will have to show my wife this quote. Let her know that I'm not the only vapor lunatic out there.
