I was vaping along on my grand when it just stopped working. Thinking it might be a dead battery I took it out and tested it. It registered 3.8v. Hmmm.....I put a freshly charged battery registering 4.2v in and it still didn't work. Well, carto maybe? I primed a new carto and fired it up. Nothing, nada, zip. So I got my brand new, never been used before grand out of it's storage box. Put the battery and carto in it and it works fine, (YAY for backups!!). Gave the original grand a good visual inspection and it looks OK. Firing pin moves when pressed, spring not collapsed(at least I don't think it is. Still feels firm and is at the same height as the one in the new, working grand). Had some juice inside so I gave it a boiling water bath, flushed it. cleaned the atty connector and firing pin with alcohol, let it dry and put noalox on the firing pin. Still nothing.

I'm stumped guys.

Could it be turned off? I know it's happened to me a few times  If not then I have no idea. I'd get the screw driver out and take a peak up under the the firing area there, and see if something came lose. There really isn't much that can break in these guys. Also could your Carto not be making contact? I know someone here can figure it out...... :(

It is as far left as will go. The firing pin is depressing downward when I push the button, so it's not off. But it's not working either.

Try this:

Remove the bottle and battery but leave a carto screwed in. Don't torque the carto tight, though. Where the tube attaches to the metal nipple inside your Grand, put your finger tip on the bottom of that nipple (just fold the tube) and gently apply pressure upward toward your carto. Then put a battery back in and see if it will fire. If not, I'd send it to Dr. Rob for a check up.

Clean the connector threads and the firing pin with a QTip dipped in alcohol. Try again with a working carto/atty and battery.

If that doesn't work, you will need to send it to Rob. My guess is that the connection between the battery and the atomizer is broken. It is a rare occurrence.

I've tried all that too mlinky, zip. How glad am I that I bought another one almost immediately after buying this? Very, very glad. Keeps me from sobbing right now. :D

That didn't get it going either mudflap.

Sorry bro. You have a spare because you're very smart. Rob's info is on the business card that came with your mods.

Box it up, write a short note explaining the issue, include your PayPal associated e-mail address, and it'll be handled. Quickly, too.

Thanks for trying. I sent Rob a PM to see if there is anything else I can do to it at home, but I think you are right and it's probably going to need to go to the Reo hospital for an inpatient stay.

if you have a meter. which it sounds like you do. Check voltage at the atty connector on the mod. red on center pin and black to the top or threading. puch the button see what you got. if you have voltage its not the REO.

Also if you have continuity tester you can check continuity on the firing pin and the centr post of your mod. One on the center post one on the the positive under the button ( where the button makes positive contact with the battery) on the tab. If you get a light or a beep depending on your tester the connection is good. and thats not the problem.

I don't have a meter. I've got another mod that will read out battery voltage so I checked the battery with that. A new carto works on the new grand but not on the old one, so it makes me think it is the reo. I should have checked the old carto on the new grand, but I've already tossed that in the trash. And unfortunately(or fortunately from the cats point of view) I'd just scooped the litter pan. No digging that puppy back out for a check.

Yeah I dont blame you, that ones gone for sure! You dont need the cat giving you funny looks.

Its hard to say for sure with out a meter. If theres one you can borrow might be worth a check or just send it to Rob. If you can I would get atleast some sort of meter as soon as you can. They handier than you think. Also the easiest way to trobleshoot your PVs. start with the batteries then check the atty connector and then in between.

Good Luck At least you have a back up. I cant wait to get a back up REO or 12!!!!!! :)

I have had a few cartos that will not work on my Grands, but they will work on my other REO's.

Sometimes the height of the center post on the cartos prevents it from making contact.

You might have tightened the carto on too tight and cracked the center gasket on the REO. That has happened.

Just seems funny that it was working and quit suddenly.

See what Robert says and hopefully soon it will be all fixed.

Yeah, it's very odd that it just quit. And I didn't know that over tightening a carto could cause issues, so I might have done that and caused the whole issue. I'll definitely be more careful with the one I'm using now. This whole thing has made me glad I'm a firm believer in backups, and also made me realize a weak link I've got here. I've only got one battery charger and that's a big hairy problem if that quits working. So I just ordered a backup for it.

I have a good feeling its the carto .When this happens you can pull the center pin down a whisker with a tooth pick pop it back on your mod and vape like a champion . Thank you to all that jumped in and helped out . House mouse the cartos are mass produced I have seen this with cartos more then a few times. Not a big deal when you no what the problem is .Pm sent

I tried pulling the pin down some, and it didn't fix anything, but that's probably because I wasn't really sure what I was doing. Anyhow, I pulled an atty out and put it on the grand I thought wasn't working and it fired right up. I don't know why that carto works on one and not the other, but I'm happy the grand is still working as the atomizer proved.
