My name is jared and Im new to e vaping and have an Idea of the setup I want but no clue what brands and starter kit are best and available. I dont care how big it is or If it looks anything like a cigg. Meaning I want a mod with a fat batt and an LR atty. I would like the mod to be strong and stylish. lots of throat hit and vapor, long batt life, tank or feed system. ect... Im overwhelmed by the size of this industry and a little scared. im 22 years old so I would like a setup around 100 or less and a good site for purchasing LR atties and other reliable replacements and upgrades. Honest opinions please, dont advertise something if you know of a better product, lots of sites sure love to give you the runaround but I feel safe here! thanks guys

Welcome to the forum :)

You are about to get a deluge of suggestions (many different ones). The main thing to know about e-cigs is that when you buy one you are basically buying the battery so that should be your main concern. Everything else can be switched out, altered, or replaced in so many ways (you can even get adapters to use your battery with other systems parts).

So, remember; battery is the most important piece.

Good luck!!

Not speaking from experience, but I like the look of the eGo. 510 threading makes it probably the most versatile. 510 is pretty universal, and like they said, you can always get an adapter. Tanks are a bit of a tossup still, and their attys don't seem to hold up very well from reports. I'm still ordering one to test it out, because, I, too, want to move away from the carts. If you want a real tank or feed mod, the vapemate looks really rad attached to the ego as well, and there are reports that it will autofeed with a little modification. Then again, my mileage may vary when I get it. I've been vaping on a kr808 (I think) and have little experience with much else.

Edit: Also, for the eGo, the 650 passthroughs seem much cooler than the 1000, but then I don't think i'm going to need the LR atty. There are reports of eGo's burning chips out on LRs though, so watch yourself.

I use my LR atties on old 510 batts since they produce good vapor and taste with the 1.5 LR. I reserve my Ego batts for the Tank and Mega attys. I've heard of LR's popping the MOSFET in batteries. If I lose a year old 510 batt, it's not a big loss.

I'd recommend anyone starting out to get a $29.99 Riva 510 Lite Bundle kit from Liberty Flights
E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings (price is after you hit the 20% off total order button at the top left of the page.) I just got one in for my brother in law and it is a nice kit.

Mods I haven't experienced even after a year of vaping. I haven't felt the need to spend the money since I'm satisfied with the Ego family of 510 class products. Voltage is voltage and resistance is resistance regardless of the platform. They use standard off the shelf atomizers. Maybe one day I will spring for a mod.

Welcome! Yay....someone that doesn't want to start out with something that looks/tastes/acts like a cigarette!
Deluge Suggestion #542: Super T Manufacturing Precise 18 with the vapemate.

Right, except they want to keep the whole thing under a hundred bucks.... sounds like a Riva lite bundle ($30) from liberty flights (don't forget the 20% discount button) plus a drip tip and some juice.

I also recommend getting some cartomizers from iVape too (on sale for $7).

With this set up (for under $100 dollars) you get:

• two 750mah batteries (8-10 hours per charge or more)
• the charger
• 5 cartridges
• two atomizers
• the drip tip
• some cartomizers
• juice

so you can try your e-cig a few ways and see what you like.

Good luck! :)

Although there is nothing wrong with an ego/riva, it certainly not the only choice. Not sure why all noobs are pointed towards them. I would look at the supplier forums and check out what the different suppliers have and get an idea of what voltage, look...etc work for you. It's very easy to spend a lot of money. Do your research! There are many options

Listen to Rosa - that's a great setup and definitely get juice! Later you will get juice elsewhere but order some with your kit because you'll be refilling carts alot, and cartos with an ml or more to start (full) then they need to be topped off less often. Drip tip so you can drip.

Riva and Ego are basically the same thing - fat battery 510 units.

Apparently no one else is allowed an opinion, good luck with your search!

I think a mod is a fine idea.. you should add some links to what you recommend so that the OP can take a look-see. Plus, links to whatever extra they need to order. I'd like if more people could be less confused about mods, but they are harder to find if you don't know where to look and confusing to buy because they don't come complete. Plus, you'll have to teach them about feeders and volts etc...

I did not recommend a mod, I said to research. An ego/riva is not going to be for everyone.

How are they not complete? Add batteries and an atomizer, same as an ego, and its complete.

They are no harder to find than an ego/riva, egos are just always pushed whereas everything else is shouted down. The forum suppliers are easy enough to find and you can read about what they offer.

The goal should not be to say to anyone, this works for me, so it will for you. The goal should be to listen to what they want and point them to something that fits, which will not always be an ego.

I totally agree with Rosa, its one of the best deals for the money and it leaves you extra money for a couple of different flavors/nictone levels to try out.

Much of the confusion surrounding a mod is everyone saying they are confusing. All e-cigs have the same basic parts, mods and stock kits alike. Although I would not recommend a Darwin to a noob (only because it is very expensive and would hate to see someone spend that much in case they don't even like vaping) it is about as easy as you can get. Charge via usb, attach atomizers, cart/tank/cartomizer and your done. How is that more confusing?

I would like to spend under 100 dollars but Im serious about replacing my smoking habit and the precise 18 setup with the vape mate looked amazing as far as style, strength, batt life, no direct drip bs, power and wow. How do I get aquainted with batt sizes and atty ohms as far as dos and donts. Btw I think I would hate cartomizers

Cartomizers do have there place for convenience, but I prefer my map tank from cloudsofvapor, but they are constantly sold out! The precise is nice, I've eyed them myself, beautiful looking piece. Look at the supplier forum and ask any specific questions to the specific supplier and you will learn all you need to know.

I have learned to hate cartos. If you go with a precise and vapemate, you should be good to go out of the box pretty much. both are machine drilled in house by the distributor, i believe, and have a great rep everywhere you look. Just let them know in the comments that this is your first rig and I'm sure they'll do you right. May want to look elsewhere for your juices, but whatev.

Also, be sure to look around for the vape mate tube mod. It's pretty simple, but it's supposed to help a lot with feeding, even if you can't get it to autoload. BTW, I'm totally jealous. I can't afford that kinda rig yet.
