I have just sent the following to these organizations. I wrote what I felt, feel free to copy and paste if you agree with my perception and views.

Your organization is among many who are wanting a ban on electronic cigarettes. I was a 2 pack a day smoker and now smoke no tobacco cigarettes at all. This was a result of the electronic cigarette. Given that these devices are so much safer than a tobacco cigarette I can not fathom your opposition to them. Major tobacco companies want these devices banned as they are eating away at their profits, just as their products eat away the lives of their users. Do the tobacco companies fund your programs? This is the only reason I could see for your organization being in agreement on this issue. These devices have no doubt saved my life, therefore as a result of your intent to promote the continued use of tobacco products, I must regretfully inform you that myself, my family, or anyone who will listen to my words will no longer be donating to your organization from this point forward. Should you actually care about this post I can be reached via email or phone. Thank you for your time.

I created a post a while back, to paraphrase, if I fall esleep with my ecig I can not burn my house down. That alone proves a safety benefit, not to mention that there is no cyanide, arsenic, benzine ETC in E-cigs. I don't need a lab study to conclude thay are safer, I also don't need to get shot to prove a bullet can kill me. In my opinion it comes down to common sense. Again, just my opinion.)

I agree with that, after I quit tobacco cigarettes I looked around and saw how many holes I created over the years, especially a few on the mattress.

Nice post btw, I wish everyone would take the fact that at least I now wake up in the morning and dont have trouble breathing anymore as proof enough that E-cigs are better for you then tobacco cigs.

Tread lightly on this one people.
Firstly, without validation that they (Big Tobac) want these banned borders on being a libelous statement. You are making an accusation that they could take offence to.
Second...Depending on who reads your letter, they might see it as being an attack when you ask them about BT funding their programs. If they feel that you are stepping on their toes, they will quickly disregard your message.

The better way to deal with these 2 organizations is with velvet gloves. Ask them "why they dont support these devices" then ask "Would you support these devices if they are tested and proven to be safer than tobacco smoking?"

Wow, where to begin. First as far as being libelous I would love to see them prove it. My statement basically said "They don't want competition", DUH, who the hell does? As far as asking if they were funded by them, I think it is a perfectly reasonable question. We are talking about a product which IS A SAFER ALTERNATIVE..PERIOD. Basic common sense tells us that if it does not contain CYANIDE it is safer. We KNOW the ingredients in Cigarettes cause cancer, IT SAYS SO RIGHT ON THE PACK. Why would the CANCER society be against a product that reduces the usage of a product KNOWN to cause cancer? They will not answer my question in any event so it is a moot point. No offense, but I will not tread lightly, I will speak my mind, this is america. My forefathers fought for that right and I will damn well excercise it.
Thank you.

I like it. Youre going to get an email reply congrats on quiting and then some long standard answer how they are not FDA aproved. Thats what I got lol
But if we all keep at them and they see our numbers, maybe someone will stop and think about this!

That is what I don't understand. Cigarettes are not FDA approved either so why wouldn't their logic dictate that a common-sense, safer unapproved nicotine delivery device would be a better choice until it is scientifically proven safer?

just wanted to add something in about the burning holes in stuff. a while back i had a nasty cigg and this is what prompted me to change to vaporing...the cigg had a chemical smell like burning plastic i called the 800# on the back of the pack and they sent out free coupons and told me to send back in their package the cigg and the pack with the codes on the bottom for them to test..did more research and found that soon if not all analogs will be with fire ......ant paper...yes little tiny rings of fire ......ent in some analogs some will just use more paper in rings around the cigg so if someone falls asleep they don't burn down their house...so imho that is more to inhale is it not?

The FDA does NOT regulate cigarettes. This is not about either using an e-cig or a real cig. This is about the e-cig. Period. And common sense isn't science, which is what we need on our side.

Well put. As bad as it sounds, our personal beliefs(as well founded as they may be) don't mean anything in the "fight."

JC - Good work on retracting your donation support to the ACS and ALA.

There is no doubt in my mind that groups like the ACS, ALA, TFK started out with good intentions... but I believe those good intentions have been drastically lost in their quest to eliminate smoking. Cutting off their supply of joe-schmo donations is a good way to get your point across to these organizations.

I have only had conversations with American Legacy (truth.org) and Tobacco Free Kids and it is apparent that their reasoning for wanting the ecig banned is that it is not a proven NRT that has been FDA regulated. IF these had been brought to market by the makers of Nicorette, this would be a completely different story. They would be behind them 100%.
