first off. im part of other smaller forums, but this is my first time here. so hello everyone.

now on to the issue.
i helped get my family into using e-cigs 2 months ago. everyone is using either a ego twist or vision spinner(2) with a evod 2 or areotank mini. which is working out great for everyone's needs.
for some reason the couple of weeks ago my mom has been having server coughing to were she say," i cough so hard i'm going to pee my pants."
so i watched her try to take a hit and she can even really start to take a drag. literally its like a 1 second or less drag and she looks like shes going to die she coughing so hard. i have had her try everything that i can think of, with no luck.

here everything we have tried:
100% vg
100% AN&O vg
less nic and 0 nic
drinking more fluids including chilled and hot
throat drops including high menthol ones which numbs the throat.
changing coils
honey
of course a combination of everything

when she show me were her throat gets irritated. she point points to below her Adams apple. almost as is if her throat is closing up on her.
i really hope i can get some help on this matter. when she goes home she gets upset that there is a tackle box full of flavors that she loves but can vape. she really doesn't want to smoke anymore, but thats the only thing that does not irritating her throat. which pisses her off more, because it makes her feel defeated. :(

side note: i had this written better but it didn't post because of log in issue i guess. so i had to rewrite everything i hope i didn't forget anything. arrrrrrr . easy fix would be, not allow the ability to write post without being logged in.

If, you tried all of the above it may not be a Vape issue. I would recommend a visit to her family Dr. It may just be an allergy to something in ejuice (Flavorings)? But better safe than sorry. Have you bought her a known brand of Cigalike (Blue or Enjoy or Vuse) and tried the inhale test? Can she take just a mouth inhale and nose exhale without lung hit? But a check up with her Dr. for sure. Welcome to ECF by the way. :)

i don't know that there are inhale test i'll check in to those.

as far as the flavoring thing goes i forgot to mention. it didn't start until after we made an order from mt baker vapor. but i have been trying to get her not to use that brand or at least certain flavors that we ordered from them.

i have been thinking that there maybe some other underlining issues too. but not sure as she is still able to smoke without a issue.

arrr can quote yet. as it reads as a link.
anyways:

she normally isn't lung inhaler. she only lung inhales time to time, either way she still didn't have any issues for 6 weeks of vaping and until after get the MBV juices. but it seem like those juice have had a rip affect as she's not able to return to her other juices without issues.

Well...I can't believe I registered for this forum...but here I am! I'm "The Mom" that is having trouble. My son did a very accurate job of describing everything, including the fact that I loved it at the beginning.

Sometimes the throat hit is going down, sometimes it's on the exhale....either way I cough. My cigs don't bother my throat though.

I've read all the comments and suggestions and want to thank everyone very much! I do feel defeated, stressed, and mad!

I will consider seeing a doc, but until then I'll just go back to smoking cigarettes and see if the symptoms don't go away.

Totally bummed!

I'd like to ask, is there any prolonged irritation associated with the cough, i.e. is your throat sore for an extend time after the vaping cough fit, or does it feel pretty normal once you've quit coughing an catch your breath? (obviously if you cough enough, there will be some soreness, I'm more curious if the throat/trachea is already inflamed).

I've definitely noticed with some juices I tend to cough quit a bit, especially after a longer lung inhale...though to be honest, I actually don't mind because there really isn't any additional pain or inflammation involved...kinda reminds me of other substances I smoked back in college.

If it's a chronic thing, it may be an allergic reaction? I've noticed some vape juices I've purchased have warnings "may contain trace amounts of peanuts", which is fine for me, but would put my nephew in a hospital. I have to wonder if something in the MBV caused a reaction, and even after switching back to other brands, your throat/trachea is still inflamed so it's more sensitive. Would it be possible to take a few days off of vaping and then go try it again (without using any MBV juice)?

Also, when you switched juice, did you use a completely different tank/atomizer, or just clean the MBV juice out and refill it? I ask because if it is an allergic reaction to a trace ingredient, it may still be there even if you swapped juice.

In answer to your questions:

I only cough when I vape. The throat doesn't hurt any other time, so I'm assuming that something having to do with the whole vaping thing started it. My cough started more so in the mornings and some flem would come up. After a few hours, I'd be back to normal. Then the coughing hit every time I used my e-cig. My mom thought I had a cold, but I would only cough in the mornings.

I've been a smoker for over 30 years so I expected some changes along the way.

I have no allergies, but I'm taking some allergy medicine as someone suggested as well. No changes thus far.

My son watches over me like a hawk :) He changes, cleans, does the coils, and looks at what's going in my tank.

I haven't touched my ecig at all today. Just smoking my regular cigs and there's no coughing. My throat feels a little irritated, but that could be because it's
just having a time healing? We just don't know.

I'm going to give it a week of no vaping and see what happens. Maybe the doctor might be next.

I miss my favorite flavors though! So heartbreaking! Having to buy cigs is even more painful to the wallet!

I learned not to draw so hard on the mouthpiece, but just enough. Took a lot of tries, and I still slip up and try and drag on it like a regular cigarette! I got my vape today, and had the guys at my vape store show me everything, since I am a newbie. They told me to barely draw on it, which I found hard to do--I mean, after 34 years of smoking I always drew hard on the cig.

If the Mt Vapor is causing this. Maybe try another vendor. She may be allergict to some of the stuff put in thier liquids.

My suggections 1) https://store-gz18z1oz.mybigcommerce.com/login.php. The Blue Moon Ice Cream is to die for.
2) 131 E-Liquids & E-Solids (Liquid Volume: 30ml Nicotine Content: 24mg) at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Both these vendors have been great for me for well over a year. If it seems to happen with every vapor you buy, it may be good for her to see a doctor, tell him/her's doctor what she is doing and see if there are some allergic reactions to some of the stuff in E-liquid. Always safe than sorry..

Just a thought, do you have a humidifier? Might sound weird/funny but if you cough after directly inhaling the mist from it the cause of your coughing maybe due to one or both of these.

1 your throat receptors are getting better. smoking numbs them
2 vapor is condensing in your throat and is triggering your cough reflex

if this is the case, do small mouth to lung puffs and let it "sit" in your mouth for a few seconds before you inhale. gradually increase the volume and shorten the time till you find the point it makes you cough.

But as others have said it may be a flavoring/brand allergy and best to err on the side of caution and see a doctor as well.

PS does it feel like a tickle/itch in your throat or a burning sensation?

I had, have, a hard time getting the same inhale as a cig. My son kept telling me it's not one so don't smoke it like one. I'm still in the error stage! I mean REALLY bad...I have to know I'm getting the nicotine. Sound strange but it's a psychological thing that I have yet to overcome.

Since we are not sure if it's the brand, or not, we're still checking into other places. Like I mentioned before....I had some flavors that I LOVED!

A humidifier is an excellent idea! Didn't think of it for me. I occasionally run it for Maui...who is in my avatar pic.

It's not a burning sensation...more like a VERY dry, itchy, inhale....as soon as it gets passed my Adams Apple.

Again....thanks for all the help from everyone!
