my new puck is evolving

had a puck which is not working up to par ..so I am building a new one ..
trying to get rid of the series resistance of the springs ...halv an ohm !! try to bypass the springs ...not so great either.
soooo I am thinking of hard wire them in and solder all connectors ..if there is a charger module to charge them in series ??
or to have an 8 pin connector with dummy wooden battries for external charger ...there must be a better way!!

I have a few different solutions for you:

-Paint all of the springs/contacts with conductive silver paint... (Can find it at radioshack for tracing IC circuits)

-Tin all the springs and plates with silver based solder.

-Replace all the springs and plates with strips of copper and higher quality springs.

-Shove a piece of something more conductive in the center of the spring. I've successfully used a desoldering braid cut into 1/4" strips. Didn't glue or solder them or anything... Just shoved a piece in the center of each spring... I found that by slightly fraying / cutting really messily actually helps get the braid tangled into the center of the spring.

All of these methods will quite sufficiently reduce the resistance of your contacts.

on my list for to day was radio shack for the silver paint . when I used braid before I soldered it ..not so good ! I like your idea to just put it in I will try that ..never even thougt of coating the springs with silver solder . the puck which did not work to good was with a battery holder I found in my ham radio junk box the contacts where riveted ...junk...but then they where over 25 years old ...lol...
I tried to bypass with copper strips and gave up on that. the best springs I used on some of my mods were flat stock from some packing material of computer parts ..silver soldered and bent over . dremeled a slot in it to have two prongs for the negative on the battery.
ran out of it . tried clock spring material ...annealed ...to brittle .

You could use flat spring steel instead of coiled spring as it spreads the current through more material and eliminates the length found in a coil. A source for this could be in some old remotes. As opposed to stainless steel you can solder to it too.

thanks for chiming in ..found a pix ...this what I mean my best negative springs are .thanks for the idea to look in old remote for material.
the pix is from my zmax build. the material is from a packing clip from a computer part but cant remember which .
