Hi. I have made a new years resolution to quit tobacco smoking sometime this year. I have quit before for a couple of months at a time but always went back to smokes. I am looking to the e-cigarette to help me. I have tried them out and liked them. .. I want a regular cigarette size and have decided to go with V2. I like the fact that they guarantee their products for life and I also like how straightforward they are. V2 discloses everything. They even have a list of ingredients for eliquid at their website. At other ecig sites, I can't find info about their products at all. Some manufacturers don't even disclose the threading or even the mah of their batteries. ...? I want to know what I am buying! These companies should disclose what they are selling .............. Is it a good idea to go with V2? Also what juices should I buy? What are your experiences with them. If you don't recommend them, where else should I buy from? Thanks for the help.

Congrats on your resolution :thumb:: I went from 2 packs/day of Winston 100's to about 4 cigs/day in the first 2 days of vaping. That was 6 weeks ago. Now, the only time I think of a cig is if I actually see my pack laying somewhere. I don't wake up with cravings or gagging/coughing.

I started with an eGo C-Twist 1000mah ($26 bucks at vapow.com) and a few Kanger T-2 tanks ($4 each at SureVapes, and a charger for the eGo battery. The battery would last most of the day, but not entirely, so I bought another.

It's a "little" bigger than an e-cig like the V2. My brother tried the early e-cigs like that and went back to smoking, so I can't say I'd recommend it. I can't imagine that it would be satisfying enough to have kept me off of cigarettes. Now, I'm very satisfied, and am fully willing to divert all of the $300/month I used to spend on cigarettes for vaping, though I know I couldn't spend that much without buying new devices every month.

What I recommend is to take your time and do some research on this forum before deciding what to buy. The concept works: millions have quit smoking using these products. However, if you have a bad experience, or don't enjoy your vapors, or don't inhale enough nicotine when you want it, it'll be harder to quit the choke sticks.

Honestly, it might help to hook-up with a local shop if you have one, meet some people, and get some advice. It helps having people to talk to, especially in the beginning, while you're de-toxing, and figuring out how to use your gear.

Best wishes.

Just my two cents but I read this forum from front to back taking everything in before jumping on board... I finally settled with the eGo C and then jumped up to the eGo T and now have a Zmax... it is amazing to me how different juice can taste in every one... I love the Zmax because I can regulate the Wattage and find that sweet spot for me at any time of the day on any juice... but the smaller ecig is definately the way to start and hopefully you wont be disappointed. As for the juice... everyones taste is different and subjective... I really wanted to stop analogs so I ordered a TON of samples... I really like MLB from The Vapor Store ( tastes somewhat like a Marlboro Light ), I like Tribeca from Halo and currently may favorite is T5 from My Vapor Store, it is mild and has a slightly sweet finish... keep up the good fight, you will find YOUR setup and YOUR juice... it just may take a while and some $$$$ to get there... but you will.

Congrats on the resolution.

The small cigarette style pv's aren't all they are cracked up to be. I started with one it lasted a week and then didn't satisfy my cravings for nicotine any longer. I then bought a big battery mod with 510 threads (Silver Bullet) and have been happy with that since. My first e-cig in my opinion was a waste of money. A good starter is an eGo or a eGo twist. They will last you longer due a better battery and give you a satisfying hit, also will make a good back up for when you upgrade to a better pv.

Just my :2c:

Congrats on taking steps. I just quit on New Years after 18 years pad newports. I first tried a month ago with the cig alike style n although the feel was good I didn't get enough vapor n nicotine (gross blus IMO) so I went back to analogs. On New Years I got a tornado-t and some good juice and that made all the difference..6 days smoke free and I have absolutely no desire to go back. I get the same throat kick I desire without all the negatives..so there is really no point to go back. My gear is similar to a marker in size n after a day or two I got used to it. I'm a noob to all this stuff but I'm already learning. Seriously man once you get a good setup you will see the light like I have and be ...... at yourself you didn't quit earlier. Trust me. Good luck!!!

You've considered the best route of quitting smokes. Congrats. While I use an advanced personal vaporizer and wouldn't neccessarily suggest a cig-like ecig to anyone, I would say from your OP that you seem sold on the V2. What are you waiting for? Go for it. It can help cure those stinkie cravings. If you find that you enjoy vaping and would like to continue, but feel something is lacking with your cig-like V2, there are always better options.

I always include this tidbit to new vapers who are leaning toward cig-likes... You're not smoking. You're vaping. Why does your apparatus need to look like a cigarette?

Good luck with your transition!

I too started with V2 and like them quite well...but the battery life wasn't that great. I upgraded to the ego but I keep my v2 around when I get a cig craving just for the feel of it. I use the blanks though and fill them with some 555 from Mountain Oak Vapors. It usually satisfies be enough. But unless you want to shell out 20 bucks each for a bunch of extra batteries I wouldn't make it my main source.

I didn't care at all for the prefilled cartos that V2 offers. Tastes very artificial to me. Filling your own is your best bet.

Congrats on the decision!

I also started with the v2 system for very similar reasons to yours. It did its job and helped me quit the analogs. I used V2 liquimax carts and they worked ok but when I burned up 3 in 5 days I was done and ready to upgrade. I really only want to be purchasing juice on a regular basis, not hardware. I went straight to an APV but that's not for everyone. If I was to do it again I would start with an EGo system with a ce5 rebuildable atty.

As far as V2's juice the Sahara was great. Nice Carmel/spice flavor, not tobacco. That Got me to quit but I started purchasing from another vendor.

The only issue I've heard about with V2 is stock problems and shipping speed. I didn't have these issues but I am a patient, patient person.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I tried my friends ego (not sure which kind) and the vapor was too much for me. I'm sure if I vape for awhile that I'll get used to it. I want to start off with the minis and then upgrade if I can quit tobacco products.

I plan on buying a v2 starter kit, but also buying plenty of juice from different vendors. Buying prefilled cartos doesn't seem to be a good way to go.

Congrats on your New Years resolution! I started out (and am still using) a 510 starter kit that came with three batteries/three atomizers/and 20 cartridges (5 of which came pre-filled) and a sampler of juices. It also had a PCC and charger. I go through all three batteries probably two to three times a day, depending on whether or not I'm chain vaping (most of the time.) I recently purchased an eGo C Twist and am waiting to get it in the mail along with some cartomizers, so can't really give an opinion on that. One thing that I can recommend as a noob, please get sample packs from whomever you get your juice from as taste is very subjective as is the nicotine strength. Unfortunately, that is a lesson I've learned the hard way. I've spent some time today cleaning my atomizers and cartridges from some very nasty tasting juices, which I hope improve over time with steeping. I was a PAD smoker for 31 years (started when I was 12) and quit on 12/9/2012. I've been vaping happily since then! ECF members have been instrumental in answering my questions and providing support. Good luck to you!!!

i'm in the same shoes........
and decided after hearing people having success dropping the lung darts!!!
I was advised by my friends to get an ego-c kit and did so........I also got some 1.8ohm cleamizers to try and prefer them as they hold a little more e-juice and i can see how much is left with ease, and i can switch flavors on the fly !!!

good on ya for making a go of it..............

My advice, get over the desire to have them look like cigarettes. You will never look back when you experience the superior vaping experience in something better or more powerful. At least start with egos. And, in my experience, you won't really stop with the analogs until you get a strong and consistent vape....and I doubt that'll ever come from one of the fakerettes. Just my experience, hope to save you some $$ and time off analogs! Good luck!
