My One-Year Anniversary:

Was last week and I couldn't feel better. So, After one year, where am I?

- I've come to realize I'm a very simple vaper in comparison to many forum members, mostly dude to the prohibitive cost of heavy duty mod-collecting and juice sampling (in Canada at least). I have one device (Black Reo Mini). I cycle through 6 AW IMR's. All of my atties now come from AvidVaper, and I've come to like the 1.8ohm cisco 306's De-wicked, but I'm really excited about some of the new hybrid and bottom-feed specific stuff coming out (theres some in the mail!) (oh, and I'm still not mad at regular old LR510's strictly for the sake of durability)

- I don't order any juice from Canada. It's too much of a fuss playing hide-and-seek with vendors. I've settled into a routine of ordering 50ml bottles of DK fruit flavors from ValueVapor and couldn't be happier. Yes, I've tried flavors from the staples of the scene like Alien Visions, Backwoods, Ms. T' Etc, but the cost is much higher, and although in some cases the juice is better, its hard to argue with the price of bulk DK.

-I rotate through 4 or so flavors, and because I'm so used to bottom-feeding a 3ML bottle, I dont have an ADV or special flavors, I just vape what's in my mod, and I'm totally OK with that. I've also completely lost all interest or patience for dripping. I'm SO over it. It's a mess, a pain, and for me, not worth it.

- I find it really hard to keep up with the scene in general. I don't have an hour every day to pour through the forums reading reviews of atties and suppliers and new juices and new tankcartodualcoilhybridbottomfeedvacumsupermodsofdoom, so I stick with what I know, and occasionally research new products as needed.

- I'm going to continue vaping for another year, and not worry about trying to stop vaping. I love it too much. That being said, I would like to expand my hardware a BIT. Although my Reo is (as you know) built like a tank and all-mechanical, it's really the only thing I don't have a backup for.

So- Here's a query to you all- What should my next move be?
-Is there a compact battery/tank/carto/atty solution out there that I'd be happy with as a backup/bar vape?
-If I don't want to drip, but am tempted by a nice tube-mod, what should I look at for cartos/tanks?
-Anyone else as excited as I am for the VV Reo Grand?

Additionally,

- How are YOU settling into vaping for the long term? What are your main-stays, day-to-day habits, go-to-devices, fav vendors etc.

Cheers Guys, Thanks for the support, and an extra special thanks to Jack at HappyVaper, Kat and Brett at EV, (both whom got me started) James at ValueVapor, the guys at Avid, and of COURSE, Rob, who handcrafted my Reo.

Cheers!

Wow! A year without smoking, I envy you. If you were looking for a bottom feeder that you weren't too worried about loosing I think a V-mod would be disposable. I don't know why you would want to use anything of less quality than your REO mini. I have only been vaping for three months mostly on a Boge revolution. I wish that I would have saved my self the money and bought the REO grand first. Oh well! everything in its time. I generally change my flavor by adding more to my juice bottle every day. The flavor added is rarely the same as the flavor before. Lately I have upped my VG to about 70% and used considerably less flavoring. I don't have any ideal what I'll do next week.

30mg/ml nic strength mostly. It fluctuates between 16 to 40.

I don't have much time reading through the forums too, which is why I always enjoy the vape meeting we're doing in Montreal, keeping up with everything that is new!

I wish I could settle on something but even after vaping for almost 2 years now, I still have new things to try, my routine is not yet perfect.

I was at first quite excited about the VV Grand Reo but if you use a low voltage then a higher one, you'll have to switch atty/carto, I don't really see the point of VV anymore. We need a variable ohm atomizer!

Congrats, Rod - a great milestone!

You don't need a big collection when you have high-quality equipment as you do. After 2 years, I've whittled my everyday flavors down to 2 - Halo Menthol Ice in my Grand and a mixture of Alien Visions Banana Slurry and Ms, T's Bananas Foster Coffee in my Mini. I have tons of other flavors, but rarely use them. I just got a bunch of flavorings to try to make some DIY menthol - if the recipe I found satisfies me as much as the Halo, I'll be a happy camper. Hopefully I'll have more success than the first time I tried DIY. I use nothing but REO's - I also have a Woodvil that needs a new spring. I switched back to cartos earlier this year - my favorites are the Resurrectors from Crystal Clear Vaping. I got tired of inconsistent atty performance, and with the cartos the drip well is always dry. If I buy another device, it will likely be another REO - maybe one of the coming 18490's or a VV. I don't think I'd be happy with a non-feeder, and the big carto tanks don't appeal to me. I am intrigued by the Evolv Kick that is in beta and would like to try it on my Grand.

You should drip butter from your chin, with shellfish being the transfer station of such butter.

I'm doing this right now...

Congrats on your one year dude! I know what you mean as far as the supplies in Canada goes. I wish I could find a Canadian vendor myself, but there are none with reasonable prices, and most of the flavours aren't as good. I might have to check out ValueVapor, as I've been spoiled with AVE, FSUSA and RAWR too much lately and I can't afford to wait weeks at a time for my stuff to come in.

As far as your query goes, I would hold out for the new Lavatube. I hear you can grab just a barebones unit for $70.00, which is all you'll need considering you have atties and an 18650. In all honesty though, you can usually find REO minis going for $100 or so on the classies, so you might just want to grab one of those for a backup.

Hi Rod!
congratulations.gif

and Happy 1-yr vapeversary! :D

I just finished posting this on the Reo Lounge Thread:

"WOW! The new signature banner meter says I would have spent $4000 by now on smoking cigarettes?! How crazy is that?!
Of course, I live in a state where they cost about the highest I have ever seen at $11 to $14 a pack! Meantime, my lifesaving REOS, plus drip tips, attys, and juice have cost approximately $1000 in nearly 11 months of vaping! heeeheeeeee....seems like I have a new card to play with my DH when I want another REO!"

Like you, I stuck with the REO - it became the holy grail of vaping for me... I have two grands and two minis (a backup for each) because even though REOS are built like tanks, stuff happens -- and I would hate to be without a REO! So getting a backup is imperative!

Like you, I have kept it simple, I found my all day vape juice and that's what I use everyday... prior to that I was looking for an all day vape and have plenty of flavors for whenever I want a different taste, which is hardly ever! My favorite juice vendor is SmokeforPennys - which is a registered ECF vendor. :D

As for my atty, about three months ago I tried a hh 357 from Avidvaper, pricey but spectacular vape... if they can make them the same way consistently, it will be my holy grail as far as atomizers are concerned.

AS for the tank atty combo -- keep your ears to the ground for a rebuildable atty by someone named scuba dan (I think)... lots of Reonauts are lined up for it already! ;)

In the words of our dear Modpapa, continue to "Keep it simple and effective!" :thumb:

All the best to you for year 2 :D
