... continuing my smoking habit, but replacing the smokes with e-cigs. I thought following through the motions of my habit (going outside, vaping at the same times that I smoked, etc.) would help this transition. The more that I read, the more I realize how different PV's are from smokes. For instance, I'd like to take 8 - 10 drags in a row like a smoke, then I'd have a more "satisfied" feeling. But I'm reading that the normal practice is to just vape a few draws every once in a while instead of vaping for a few minutes straight like with a smoke. What is everyone else doing? No wonder my cartomizers are getting a little hot on me  The hardest part of the change over for me is that I'm not getting that "ahh-I just smoked a cigarette" feeling. I know this will take time and I'm just a few days into it. I'd just like to hear what everyone else is doing.

Well,I started out two weeks ago vaping as if I was smoking analogs....Once an hour, going outside..almost pulling out my lighter at times to light my E-cig lol!..Now I sit at my desk at work and take a few drags about every 5-10 minutes and I seem to always have that "just smoked a cigarette" feeling ,so I've settled down into that pattern, and it keeps me away from the analogs most of the day which is my ultimate goal...Today I went 12 hours without an analog, and I normally have 4-5 since I started this per day.
Everyone is different though, and it seems to "work" for me right now.

I started off just chain-vaping, lol... eventually, though, I settled into the 2-3 hits every few minutes thing. You'll find your equilibrium eventually. I suggest maybe a higher nicotine. Lots of people find out that they have over- or under-estimated what nicotine level feels right, and if you're not getting that "satisfied" feeling, maybe you need stronger juice.

Dripping is a good suggestion, give that a shot. But yeah, vaping isn't smoking. It's a different habit altogether, and while it will most likely get you off analogs completely (with little or no desire to ever go back to them), it's a whole new skill-set and way of thinking. Just stick with it; it gets easier.

I began as a chain vapor as well. I found that if I used a light menthol flavoring that I felt more like I was actually smoking. I could feel the hit on the back of my throat better. And, I wasn't a menthol smoker at all. I still vape alot this past 8 months, but more for the flavors now.

I'm a chain vaper and I've been vaping since the middle of last November. I go for the higher nic juices in the morning, after I eat, when I'm feeling tense or tired. Otherwise, I'm chain vaping either 8mgs or 12mgs of nic.

I had an atty crap out on me today and Shellie pulled out the wick and bridge. I can't wait to drip on that tonight with 24mgs of cocoa raspberry. I do like to drip a lot, so maybe you might like it too. Give it a try and see what ya think.

Oh...and as soon as I gave up smoking cigs, I went straight to vaping in my house. There are a few non-smokers that live in this house too and they have no problems at all with me and Shell vaping inside. They actually like the smell of some of the juices we vape (butterscotch almond, hopscotch...the sweeter juices).

We live in Wyoming and it gets damn cold and windy here during the winter so vaping inside is awesome for us. No harm no foul...all is good.

:)

I hear you on vaping inside. I do that now as well. I've never smoked inside once I moved away from home 15 years ago. When I was moving is when I realized how nasty all of my stuff was from smoking inside. Some stuff I simply threw away it was so bad. Haven't smoked inside since. I suppose there really isn't a point in me carrying my habit behavior that far, but that was my original thinking. I still go outside on occasion just to give myself feelings from the old days :)

I am going to try dripping soon. Now that I know what parts I need, all I need to do is order. I'm going to get through some more of my sampler carts first and see which juice I'm going to buy.

No longer being tied to "well I lit it, I guess I should finish it" makes vaping more flexible. Sometimes I keep the PV away from where I am sitting and I get up and go have about 4-12 nice drags than go back to what I was doing (like the way I smoked). Other times if I am too busy to go to another room to vape, I'll place it next to me and take a drag or two whenever I want. I am actually making a bit of an effort not to escalate my nicotine dependence so that means not vaping tons more than I smoked. I would like to go down to 12mg and when I do that I will vape more. If I vaped all the time at 18 then there would be no way to increase my vaping when I go to 12.

Menthol has been a godsend for me these first few days with a PV. I bought three different flavors of 100% VG juice from the guy I bought my Riva from (all he sells is 100% VG). The only one I can vape with any enjoyment is the menthol because of the inherent TH that menthol has, regardless of the the VG/PG ratio. Fortunately, I bought 20ml of it and still have well over half left. That should be plenty to last me until one or all of the three juice orders I made this weekend gets here.

I always liked menthols back when I used to smoke analogs but I could never smoke more than about 5 of them in a row without getting queasy.

I think I do need to get the PV away from the computer though. Most of the drags I take while sitting here are not from any real urge but just because it is sitting there. It's kind of a waste of juice.

We're all different so remember no matter what anyone else recommends do what works for YOU ! Before I started I was advised by someone that had vaped for 14 months to make vaping a different experience from smoking when possible. She warned me that it was different and there might be things I'd miss about smoking for a while and things I'd much prefer about vaping. Boy was she right! Like you, I really missed that "ahh- I just smoked a cigarette feeling" honestly four months later I still miss it sometimes, but I'm ok without it now. I learned that instead of those 8-10 drags in a row that my PV required more like drag- breath-drag-breath-drag-breath, opps attys getting a little too hot better wait a minute before I vape again. My chain smoking when I smoked was nothing like my chain vaping- vaping wise we're talking about REAL chain vaping :) At least when I smoked I really did go without a cigarette in my hand for blocks of minutes and would have to go looking for my pack of cigs and lighter to light up again, but when I started vaping my PV would stay in my hand for HOURS at a time. I rarely had to go in the other room to find it as it simply was ALWAYS with me. Its usually with me now, although I do actually have to go find it once in a while now.

And by the way, you will breath and feel MUCH better in a couple weeks ! Good Luck!

Thanks! It's been only a couple of days and I can already tell a difference. I can breathe out much better. It's weird - like before I couldn't exhale all the way. At any rate, I'm glad that I'm seeing an improvement and can't wait as the time passes to see more.
